DAVID PALMER joined the service, but went AWOL after the first year. He's residing in Tahiti and you can find him diving for pearls to support his habit of eating. BRAD THAGARD was recently seen in P.C. where he works as a bartender at The Spinnaker. SCOTT SNIDER has become vice principal of ol' W.P.H.S. and enjoys sightseeing from trees. She did it by visiting the Pres, of the U.S, and taking him one of her o possum pies. FAYE TEAGUE is a police officer in Beverly Hills, CA. She joined forces with Eddie Murphy. BUFFY BARNETT and SHARON JOHNSON live together in a straw hut in Africa. They have even taught the natives how to party. JOEY LEMMON has taken over the posi- tion Blake on Dynasty. LORI MITCH- ELL has become a model in the magazine Fredricks of Hollywood . D.H. SMITH has been named Head Car Crasher due to the fact that he totalled 3 cars in one night. SHERRI LEE and DORETTA WILSON have become Solid Gold dancers. MELODY COLEMAN ventured out on her own and made it in the enter- tainment world. After touring for 10 yrs. she came back to her hometown and mar- ried her high school sweetheart. THERE- SA MURPHY and TISH WAITE left W.P.H.S. destined never to return. They were last seen on a cruise ship headed for the Bahamas. BRENDA MORGAN and ISAIAH EVANS ahve both retired and moved away. They see each other twice a year-once, during class reunions and once during the wheelchair competition held at Oxford Lake Park for Senior Citizens 100 years and older sar THE CLASS OF SENIOR OFFICERS DEDICATION V WOMAN OF THE YEAR” Once upon a time, five years ago to be exact, a dedicated, lovely lady was hired in the ' business” depart- ment at White Plains High School. She not only teaches typing, short- hand, etc., her business also in- volves colorguard training, com- puter training, beauty contest coordinator as well as singing for memorable moments such as graduation and weddings. The yearbook Staff is proud to dedicate the 1985 Wildcat to Mrs. Pam lnmon SHE GETS THE JOB DONE! 6 RESEARCH PAPERS SCARE SENIORS We're not gonna take it Trips to the library and burning the mid- night oil really began to get on the Seniors' nerves. Just learning how to use the Card Catalog and Readers' Guide was a task in itself. Preparing note cards and rough drafts was also a nerve-racking, nail-biting chore. After four weeks, the decision to do some- thing about it culminated in the final draft of our papers, which decided our grades. The pain and agony of it all finally paid off—for better or for worse. Coach: Debbie Wilson LADY CATS WINS ONE The Lady 'Cats' softball team for 1985 consisted of some very- fine athletes with good leadership qualities. Unfortunately, our win loss record was not what we would have liked it to be. A winning high school athletics program cannot be measured solely by the numbers of wins, but rather by the amount of determination put forth by the players and the knowledge gained through competition. 70 Bottom row: Coach Tracy Hulgan, Larry Davis,Jonathon Brown. Donnie Ghee. Michael MacRae Top row: Keith Storey, Heath Garmon, Alan Raughton, Raymond Lambert. Mike Garmon WILDCATS CAN’T PULL ONE OFF The 1985 baseball season was a building process. The team consisted of no seniors, five juniors, three sophomores, two freshmen, and two eighth graders. Thus youth and inexperience played a major role in the short baseball season. Hopefully, the foundation is laid for a better future in White Plains baseball. 71 IS YOUR WORKING OUT OUT WORKING YOU? As part of our Physical Education Program, exercise and working out has a great impression on our sports program as well as ourselves. Being healthy and strong makes good athletes and keeps you in shape. Just a few hours a day, working hard, can make you look good and feel good. Those are two important aspects in life. So don't be lazy and let YOUR workout outwork YOU! FOOTBALL WORKOUT MENTAL WORKOUT 72 BASKETBALL WORKOUT VOLLEYBALL WORKOUT 1984-85 MARCHING BLUE BRIGADE This year's Marching Band was the second largest in our school's history. We had 56 members at the close of the season. The band activities were numerous, beginning in July with colorguard and drum major camps. Both our drum major and colorguard received top ratings in camp competition. In August a full band camp was held at school with new music, a new show, and new band members. There was an excitement that was felt by most band members and the staff. At about mid-season everyone knew what the excitement was about. This was a rebuilding year, yet our half-crazed band director flipped out and entered us in competition at the J'ville State University Homecoming Parade, and the Lincoln Marching Festival with an allowance of 40 minutes traveling time between the two. We brought home four trophies and $800 from this trip. About three weeks later we gave up another Saturday to travel to Etowah High School in Attalia. It was a miserable, raining, cold, and windy days, which in later days will be remembered as the onslaught of the often talked about Winter of '84 . By the end of the day dampened spirits were lifted with a four foot trophy, two superior ratings, and one rating of excellent. Congratulations to all members of'84-'85—You can stand tall! 74 75 STUDENT COUNCIL 1st row L-R. Ricky Hubbard. Tish Waite. Tracy Cobb. Micheal Hyatt. 2nd row L-R, Melody Coleman. Janet Hollingsworth. A new project that we undertook this year was selling candy canes and the profits went to needy families in the community. We worked on the Spring Fling Dance that we had closer to the end of the school year. We've enjoyed the year thoroughly, and we hope to be able to do more next year! The members meet people from various walks of life, visit colleges, professional companies and people in professional capacities. During the past two years, members of the Math Careers Club have visited UAB, Channel 6 TV station, JSU radio and TV station, Chapel Hill Funeral Home, the Anniston Star, and Merrill Lynch. In the process of learning what careers they might want to choose, some of them have also found careers to avoid. FADS FASHIONS We can truly say fashions have changed over the years. This year's fashions have gone extremely wild, such as flourescent colored clothes, two tone blue jeans, the long wild earrings. Boat shoes have also become very fashionable. Also some people have more nerves than others and go as far as getting the wild unique hair do's. White Plains High School started their own new fashion (CON 1AGIOUS CRUTCHES) which lasted threw out the entire school year. 150 ANOTHER TICKLISH SITUATION 131 DISSECTING AND MICROSCOPES BRING OUT” THE REAL YOU A former graduate of W.P.H.S. who is presently enrolled at UAB, returned to Mrs. Ballard's physiology class to demonstrate his expertise in laboratory techniques. Some of our present students showed off' for the photographer, also. 152 SOMETIMES IT CAN GET SNAKY” AT W.P.H.S. Soon after Christmas holidays, a welcome visitor entered our school and gave a performance which broke the day-to-day monotony of classes. He was not your ordinary type of visitor. He was Mr. Yarbrough, well-known snake and reptile lover. The show was not only entertaining but educational as well. The high spot of the performance came when some of our macho men volunteered to help hold the python. 153 FARMERS AND MERCHANTS BANK PIEDMONT, AL Make Our Bank Your Bank The Bank With The Club F.D.I.C.
