CLASS S F I NOTHER giant ol old was Antaeus, who was the son of Terra, :Aff the Earth. He was a mighty giant who was invincible as long ff as he remained in contact with his mother. 1 Q! Our mice, the three classes of White Plains High School-senior, 4 junior, and sophomore-have a mother, too, in their alma mater. From the time we ta little lost from the out-yonder and a little afraid of the bigness of the school world herej come to her, she X NN nourishes us to the best of her ability. Soon we learn that our school is willing to mother us-not only while we are with her, but when .ll we are away, as long as we keep in contact with her through her teachings. ' az As the old myth goes, Antaeus was finally conquered by Hercules, Q but only when Hercules lifted Antaeus off his feet and up from the i ' earth. Now naturally we do not intend to draw an absolute parallel ' XQ between ourselves and giants in mythology. This we do know: As X , we mice-little, middle, and big-reach the point of leaving our X school and of becoming a part of her tradition tthrougll tying '7 5 i 3 our colors to her spadej, as long as we are true to her teachings and Q, 'ia stay on our feet-on the firm foundation she has tried to build for 'Q uc us-we, too, shall be invincible. I While in school, we do not always realize the building which our vt 9 school and we are doing together. We feel school spirit and are X 1 S aware of opportunitiesg but perhaps only after we leave school, does our alma mater have real significance for us. May we never lose touch with her in mind and heart. -

A complication of the duties of the custodial staff is the full schedule for the use of the school building. In addition to Co-curricular activities, our school is used for classes in adult education and for extension courses from New Paltz State Teachers College. Our local music associations. such as the Civic Music one, use the building often. Even on Sat- urday, it accommodates groups holding meetings or taking examinations.
