The Student Council consists of representatives from the 7th through the 12th grades. This is the Council's first year. Zlpser, President. The F. H. A. has a membership of about 55 members. F. H. A. week was held from March 17th - 23rd. Among our activities of the week there was: Red and White Day, Church Sunday, Candy Sale, Roses to the teachers, and a Booth at the Penny Carnival. The purpose of the Hi-Y is to create, maintain and extend throughout the school and community, high standards of Christian character. This year the Hi-Y has been busier than ever. During the past year we have had skating parties, the Hi-Y candlelight service, selling schedule pencils, we still operate a free check room at the basketball games, we send two officers to state camp to Torch Lake for a five day training period in August, go-to-church Sundays, occassionaliy sponsor assembly programs, and we undertook the project of collecting clothing for Save the Children Foundation - to be shipped overseas. It has sponsored candy sales an'd dances along with the concession stand at the Football Games. Its purpose is to better sportmanship in our school, and to promote, in general, the ability of working as a team and for the team. It also helps to buy athletic equipment, which is needed in any sport. In order to become qualified for the Varsity Club you must be a letter winner in any sport. Our band again this year has been very active with our many festivities including: marching at the football games, marching for memorial day services, halloween parade, and the Christmas Concert. We were looking forward to marching at the annual District Marching Festival and marching at the Centreville Fair but we were rained out both places. Other activities were the annual Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Kalamazoo and our Spring Concert held at New Buffalo. Our final activities were the Band Follies and the Spring Concert.
