PROPHECY As I cleaned out my attxc one day I happened to run across my old mmutes from my Semor Class Meetmgs As I glanced through the notes my eyes fell on the words Have Dxploma W111 Travel These words remxnded me of the txme we were trymg to select our Senlor Class Motto and just for a Joke our advlsor Mrs Rowland suggested Have Dxploma Wxll Travel At that tlme there was a T V show called 'Have Gun Wlll Travel so we though we would be ln keeplng w1th the tlmes As I sat there thxnkmg of my old classmates I wondered what xt would be lxke lf they were ln a westem town My thoughts traveled back to 1825 to a sleepy llttle town called 'Meet Me At The Pass As Marshal Matt Pratt ambled down the street he was approached by young James P1erson the sodbuster that had just moved xnto Meet Me At The Pass He was a spry young fellow but he was havmg a hard txme gettmg started wxth the ovxmer of the wooden horse ranch Gary Woods down hrs neck all the tlme 'Vlarshal Pratt always llstened to young Jxm s complalnts but there was nothmg much he could do about It Out mn the muddy street there was a gatherlng of people around the wagon of old Doc Watkms The Doc could be heard for m1les pushxng h1s super health tonxc He always made a yearly VISII to Meet Me At The Pass There was qulte a crowd around the wagon the Gunsmxth Mr Selchert the Barber Mr D1ckey the Blacksmxth Bob Homby and ofcourse the promxnent ladxes of the town Mrs Anna Morrls Mrs Jessxe Rout Mlss Vxrgxnxa Mullms the leader of the ladxes ard Mtss Jean Robbms and the lady that always stxrred up a storm Mxss Bronwyn Hxllstrom These ladxes were always domg somethmg worth whlle for the town Marshal Pratt kept on hrs way He heard the school bell rxng and saw the kxds splll out of lt as xf xt were a jaxl and they were escapmg There ln the door stood the school marm, Mxss Johanson Yes Indeed he thought thls IS a peaceful town Just as Marshall Pratt was about to stroll mto Donna's and Karen s Cafe a herd of kxds raced by hum mto the Cafe You see they were all chxldren of the owners, Karen Beeks and Donna Morrxs The owners never worry or was xt Dodrxll comxng ln a cloud of dust The deputy jumped off hrs horse and landed at Marshal Pratt's feet Marshal ' he saxd I just got the news that two outlaws are a comxng to town And I hear tell that just because we have such a peaceful town they're gomg to see what they can do to make 1tUl'lpE8CEfLll Dangerous Dunaway and C gey Chad Hunt the two meanest outlaws ln the country are a comm' t wreck our reputatxon Now the Marshall after hearlng the news declded he had better amble around town and vxarn the towns people of the bad news Fust off he went mto the MFET ME AT THE PASS HERALD to tell Mr J Bowen that he mxght have a real story on hrs hands Thxs sutted Mr Bowen fme he always wanted a hot lead on some news and he was always runnmg down outlaws Marshal Pratt's next stop was Harper s General Merchandlse Store Here the Marshal told Mr Wayne Harper that trouble was a brewln and he had better lock up Whlle he was talklng to Mr Harper Mxss Brenda the owner of the Double Bubble Ranch came ln She was a very pretty glrl and had all of the town cut ups after her M rshal Pratt broke the news to her and told her she had better go home before the trouble started The Marshal proceeded on down the street to Sharon s Parts Fashlons where the French gal Mxss Goble became very exctted You know how rlled the French get The next stop was the Loxdhammer Hotel where the clerk Phyllls Stxltner the maxd Carolyn Helt and the Owner Judy Loldhammer began barrmg the doors and gettxng out thelr shotguns By the stxr of the town you could see that the news of the gunfxghters was spreadmg fast From across the street the Marshal could hear the ragmg of Mr Kruger the owner of the Krudy Bank howlxng hrs head off about the gunftghters Fxnally the Marshal reached the Penny Pmcher Saloon' where he sauntered up to the owner Mr Gerald G Goble and began tellmg htm the news As they stood there talklng the Penny Pxncher Stars Carmen Beeks and Julxa Shoemaker sang the song 'That Sllver Hatred Daddy of Mme ' Next came the dance hall gxrls to do therr act F1rst came Tootsxe Bell Core then Carolynme Goble and Sandra Dee McM1llxon Of course the two bartenders were at thetr usual tasks, the two Bxlls everyone called them Hexnrxch and Westall They knew more goss1p than the ladxes As Marshal Pratt stood there he heard a thunder of horse hoofs and a screechlng halt In came Wxld Nellie Morgan Meet Me At The Pass's answer to Calamxty Jane She approached Marshal Pratt and began dlscussxng the matter of the outlaws Just then rn came Deputy Deaddrlll or was xt Dodrlll and told the Marshal that the outlaws were 1n town Marshal Pratt hurrxed xnto the street to see what was gomg on There stood two of the most dangerous men 1n the whole West The Marshal although a bxt shaky approached the two and plamly told them to get out of town Now maybe you thlnk what happened was rather unusual but tlus ts an unusual story As soon as the Marshal had spoken the two outlaws looked very sad You see they had come to town to f1nd some peace They were txred of bemg outlaws and wanted to llve clean lxves xn a peaceful town So they asked the Marshal lf he could flnd them an honest Job Well the Marshal told them that the Jobs he had ln mlnd requxred speclal tramxng So they whxpped out thexr cards and sald Have Dlploma Wxll Travel And bel1eve me they dxd travel They were the fxrst cleaners of the West Thexr names were changed to Spotless Hunt the garbage man and Txdy Dunaway the street cleaner So Meet Me At The Pass not only had the name of bexng the most peaceful town of the West but the cleanest too I s' X' .
