His duties include the instruction of the begin- ner band students to prepare them for their years of service to the high school band. Mr. Parker's talent of making people want to learn, coupled with the sixth grader’s natural talent and ambi- tion, provide for an outstanding year of accom- plishment and a promising future for the band. Freshman Cheerleaders Lead Junior High Spirit The 1971-72 Ninth Grade Cheer- leaders, sponsored by Mrs. Janet Has- ley, have learned to lead their class and the entire junior high in pep ral- lies, at games and meets, and in school itself. So many girls came out for basketball that there were enough to create a separate freshman squad with their own schedule. Spirit is an intangible thing. It cannot be touched or han- dled, only its effects can be felt and seen. This book has tried to capture the spirit of the school, the people in it, and the emotions behind their mutual accomplishments. Remember in 1971-72, “Spirit Led’’ and triumphed over all. 177 A Acuff, Deborah 159, 165 Acuff, Mary Doug 99, 111, 162 Acuff, Murray 154 Adams, Carla 104, 105, 107, 140 Adams, Jerry 104, 105, 140
