The familiar May I have your attention, please starts the busy day with an- nouncements and the devotion. Page 4 X- Then it's practice, practice, practice. Noon brings a break - food for the younger set, and . . . 1 n.. a chance for study and minutes for the high school student. Then back to experiments and prac- tice in preparation for those inevitable tests. Then the routine starts with last minute schedule changes, and the mad rush between bells. adjustment to new experiences, Fall is a time of getting ready . . . for the Halloween Carnival, football games, recep- tions and Homecoming. Yet with all the activity time was still found . . . for fun and fads - the twist Xfwnieff. . . . . . brought mixed re- actions. The little ones wondered at the snow, the big ones reveled in it, and Dago vainly tried to get rid of it, as it blanketed the cam- pus with a strange, quiet beauty. Foreign Language Club members had varied reactions to typhoid and small pox immunizations necessary for a trip to Mexico. But the biggest moment of mixed emo- tions came toward the close of winter when activity slowed to a standstill as White Oak watched astronaut John Glenn hurtle three times around the earth, . , ,,,,,4,, ,M .Sjnrzhg .. . . . brought ratted hair, shorter skirts, yo-yos and tests. Foreign Language Clubbers held an In- ternational Fiesta and the seniors met The Canterbury Tales and Macbeth. N :2-:' -, -1 aa vwaaw ' As the weather grew warm- er, crowds drifted outdoors, some to chat and catch up on the latest, others to cram for finals. Spring also brought In- terscholastic League and the one-act play, sidewalk super- Visors for the new tennis court, and . . . . . . graduation. fummezf. . . the end and the beginning. Practice goes on for the band as old members graduate and new ones move up to fill their places for next year. Play school completes the schedule for home ec students who take advantage of sum- mer courses. The pool is cleaned and made ready for the hordes of sum- mer-freed students. ,ff 'Aft But things are only beginning on campus as old familiar things are torn down or reno- vated and new things added in preparation for a new year with new opportunities.
