Q 3Wq.,f eff - fa-swz ACTIVITIES THE WHITE MEMO Extra! Extra! Bead all about it! WVhite Memo yearbook goes to press! No, it Wasnit shouted from the street corners, but We, the staif, certainly felt like shouting from the housetops when this long-awaited book was finally completed. For the last four months any conversation heard between Miss Morris or Miss Crisman and a member of the statl Wasnit about English, nor was it con- cerning that last assignment in bookkeeping. No, the trend of the conversation Was Can't that deadline be postponed'r'v or 'iMust all the money be in by theniyi The stall' this year was chosen from a list of students who volunteered for the various job connected with editing the book. The editor Was Nancy Barlett, a senior. The associated editors Were seniors Barry Hall, Faydene Best, Clifford Crine, Betty Dunkel, Dale McElhattan, and Betty Gallagher and juniors Pat Etzel, Ron Cohn, and Betty Ritter. The rest of the stall was composed of stu- dents from the three upper classes of the high school. Our new sponsor was Miss Morris with Miss Crisman assisting her as our business advisor. VVithout their patient guidance it would have been impossible for us to have edited our book. Our sincere appreciation goes to all those who in some Way helped make this book a success. MIXED CHOR Hum ..... VVater ..... VVaterl There go the familiar strains of Bob Nolen's Cool Waterfi Although we love the song dearly after about three weeks of practice, We are willing to let Fred VVaring,s Pcnnsylvanians remain the most popular choral group in the United States. YVC are proud to boast of twenty-five members-Pat Etzel, Iseli Koenig, Helen XVeaver, Mary Hugus, Mary Grant, Marian Richardson, Virginia Corbett, Betty Bitter, Betty Gallagher, VValter Gilbert, Ronald Colm, Fred Graff, Don Means, Edward Hook, Bill Exley, jerry Buzza, Dale McElhattan, Elmer Slaughenhaupt, Clifford Grine, Dick Mclilhattan, Bill McConnell, Dick Buzza, Barry Hall, Allan VVeeter, and john Crone-who represented all 61 of us at county chorus held at the various high schools in this district. Under the able direction of Mr. I. N. Huffman, we have learned to master equally well selections from Bach or Beethoven, or the more popular negro spiritnals by the late Stephen Foster. The old saying upractiee makes perfect has certainly proved true in the ease of the mix- ed chorus. Anyone who heard ns later in the term could hardly believe We were the same group that held our first meeting that bright XVQ-dnesday morning in September.. Some of our more talented members organized quartets in which they entertained outside of the school. The big event in the schedule of the mixed chorus was the Spring Concert licld April 28 i11 the high school auditorium. After much patience o11 thc part of Mr. llullfman and practice on the part of the chorus it proved a success. Our weekly VVednesday morning meetings are the place to go for all who love to sing. WVe admit it takes a little work, but in the Clld We all agree it is worth ith. 'EET 51 THE WHITE MEMO

ENIOR PLAY The Scarlet Shadow, an exciting mystery play, had everyone on the edge of his seat when it was presented Friday, November 18. For weeks the Seniors worked with Miss Crisman at long, tiring rehearsals. There was always a part that needed a little more workf, but as the curtain went up we silently thanked her for all she had done to make the play a success. Miss Morris is to be commended also for the make-up job. There was a bit of controversy as to just what was the funniest point of the play. Some said it was when that big red thing fellv, others, when Inspector Bulwinkle mixed up his line and said, It must have been a flashlight, have you got a fuse? However, the antics of Zenobia and Ira had us all in stitches. For the Seniors themselves, the fun came from play practice. The gym exhibition that the fellows put on one night was so good that everything stopped until they were finished. Breathes there a character with soul so dead who never played five-hundred and watched his cues insteadf as the Seniors did not! The memories of preparing and presenting 'iThe Scarlet Shadowv will always be cherished by all who took part in the Senior Class Play of 1950. 53 - THE WHITE MEMO
