The Band linox lligh School is proud of having one of tl1e finest bands in this section ol' the state. Although it did not enter contests due to war-time travel restric- tions, the band took part in school activities. 'l'he annual spring eoneert to be held in May is expected to be one of the major aetivities ol' the school year. Everyone, looking t'orward to this event, is practising hard. 'l'he hand has inereased from thirty-five members in 1931 to fifty-eight members now in unit'orm. This has all come about under tl1e able guidance of Mr. l. N. llllililllilll. one ot' the finest music conductors in the state. The band was proud to be able to send nine of its most able musicians to the Mid-West llistriet liand Meeting held at Ellwood Uity in February. They were: Mary Ellen Meeonnell, Ruth MclClhatten, Marilyn McElhatten, Ruby Melfllhatten, Patricia Melilhatten, Mary Agnello, Leila Neely, lialllonte Crape, and Sam Bright. Besides having a fine music room and a library containing approximately two hundred and fifty dollars worth of music, the school also owns many instru- ments and niueh equipment. The instruments are loaned to various pupils in the sehool, who do not have their own. They, therefore, provide an excellent opportunity for students who otherwise might not be able to take music work. 'Phe Music Auxiliary has proved to he a great help in improving the musical opportunities for students and the appearance ot' the band. 30 The 19,14 White Memo
