Senior Class Play Footlights glow, anticipation and suspense engross the audience as the curtain rises on the firstl act of 'tOne Mad Night. The scene confronting you is that of a deserted mansion in the hills, a logical setting for such a mystic diversion, and I might add, for being deserted, it was very lively! Here you were liable to encounter anyone from the sleep-walking Lady Macbeth to that gruesome half of a split personality, Mr. Hyde. All contributed to make the evening of No- vember twelfth at Knox High indeed one mad night. One could write indefinitely on the plot, characters, and setting ofthe senior class play, but if you were to ask a member of the cast what he will always remember about that play-those, if at all, he would mention last. He would be more likely to tell you of all the fun he had at rehearsals and in the presentation-the humorous things that happened, such as: Ritter giving himself his own cues, Doc 's emphatic Goodnight! , football scrimmage on the gym floor, replacing light bulbs on an eighteen-foot ladder during rehearsal, molding La Monte 's nose, Sam 's astonishment when he discovered those weren't blanks in the gun he was using, and Ruby 's unforgetable interpretation of De- pression, the colored maid. These are just a few of the many recol- lections that mention of the play will always bring to his mind. A familiar speech always is No, take that scene again. VVe're going to do it right if it takes all night. Miss Urisman had much occasion to say this and we do appreciate it. Thank you Miss Crisman for making our play the success it was. We are grateful to you, the entire faculty, and all others who cooperated with us so splendidly. lt gave us another pleasant memory of school to take with us after graduation. The 1944 White Memo 29
