Seniors Class Advisor Mrs. Leacock The Seniors of today 1950-51 were the Freshmen of Sept. I9M7. we began our first year of high school with a membership of 35. At our first class meeting we chose our officers: President, Ammi Keiperg Vice President, Barbara Wheelerg Secretary, Sharon Clymer, Treasurer, Fancy Fiest. During this year we lost seven members, Janet Krevson, Mary Lou Searfoss, Geraldine Muendlein, Roger Daneker, John Shrosky, Leo Benjamin, and Nathan Payton. Our activities for the year were: having a soup sale, conducting a bake sale, and chancing off a ton of coal. We also held a Hallowe'en party at the Borough Building and a Christmas party in school. An honor given to one of the members of our class was the selection of Barbara Wheeler as a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad. , 1fr l , YIVV 71.7, N ' Q I .1LiV,i if: Q Q I 4, I ' ' fi 'L' V V 'ii 'A g' '13, 31 3 1 , f - 7 '1 ' T 211 1 A , wal' if ' -1 Af -.f , jaj 2- A. At our roll call this year we found that two former classmates, Mary Jane Grasso and Agnes Gower, were missing. Our first task was electing our class officers, who were: President, Jacqueline McCloskey, Vice President, Barbara Wheeler: Secretary, Sharon Clymerg Treasurer, Virginia leneeley. .This year we began gathering money by selling puff- ed rloe balls and attractive red and black beanies. Anxious to begin in drematics we presented three one act plays entitled: ncandy Goes on a D1et', a comedygs 'He Done Her Wrongn, a melodramag and nWhodunn1t?u a mystery. We ehanced off a rifle at the end of the year. A number of boys llnt out for basketball and baseball. Dorris Martini was chosen as a Varsity Cheerleader, and Jacqueline lcCloskey and Mary Farrell were chosen as J. V. Cheerleaders. During this year we welcomed as classmates: Anthony Avilla, Brice Sachse, Harvey Weaver, Robert Far- rell, and Charles Solt. Those whom we lost were Joan and Lloyd Brobst. Returning now as Juniors our roll call was again decreased by two members: Viola Argot and Howard Flick. Our class officers chosen this year were: President, John Stockingerg Vice fresident, Ammi Keiperg Secretary, Sharon Clymer, Treasurer, Barbara Wheeler. This year we worked very hard. We held a saurkraut supper which was very successful. In February we held a Valentine Dance. March we again produced three one act playes entitled: 'lrs. 0'Leary's Gown, a hilarious comedygWThe Red Lamp , a mystery, 'Curse You Jack Dalton', a melodrama. A weiner roast was held at Hickory Run Park and a Hallowe'en Party at the Borough Building. We ended our activities with a formal banquet honor- ing the Senior Class of I950. A few nights after the banquet we held a semi-formal dance: every- one was dressed in his best. It was the outstanding social event of this year. lusic was supplied for ,this dance by Emil Kitland's or- chestra. Oh! What a Wo derful Night! September 7, I9SO,twenty two pupils were welcomed back as Senlors. Thinking of our trip to Washington and graduation, we still had more money to earn. At our first class meeting we elected these officers: President, Jacqueline lcCloskey3 Vice President, Dorris lartiniz Sec- retary, Sharon Clymerg Treasurer, Barbara Wheeler. During the su mer months two of our classmates were taken by mar- riage. They were Virginia Heneeley and Haney Feist. Virginia became the bride of Albert Pcltrok Jr., and Nancy took her all important vow to be the faithful wife of Harry Hassel. We surely wish you would have stayed another year with us, but since they have you now, we wish you all the luck and happiness possible in this world today. To raise funds yet needed to go to Washington we sold Christmas cards, wrapping paper, and writing paper. October found us making and selling cider. We d1dn't use rotten apples either. This proved to be quite successful. lovember was quite a busy month for us. First we sold T shirts with White Haven High School on them. Later in the month we produced a three act play entitled 'Spooks and Spaamsn, which was enjoyed by a most welco ed audience. This put a nice sum into our treasury. Thanks- giving night we held a dance at the Parish House to help digest the turkey. A most enjoyable evening was had by those who attended this dance. At the beginning of the year we took as o e of our class projects the publication of nThe Hountaineern, the school newspaper. We hope to improve its quality of preceding years. w January we chose our yearbook for us to choose our announcements February we had a dance after ball gale. Junior Class Class Advisor Mr. Meier On September S, 191413, thirty-nine happy boys and girls began their high school career. They had their first class meeting for the purpose of selecting their class officers. Those chosen were: President, Jane Barryg Vice President, Jo Ann Reilly, Secretary, Charles Fiestg Treasurer, Fred Ziminsky. During the school year, this energetic class sold magizines subscriptions, Christmas wrapping paper, chanced off a Slb. Easter egg, and also had a bake sale. September 7, IQLQ, they began their Sophomore year. This year the class numbered 33. Anxious to get started they elected their class of- ficers. President, Kenneth Kunkleg Vice President, Louise Skollar 3 Secretary, Hilton Miller, Treasurer, Fred Ziminsky. Their first ac- tivity for the year was a Hallowe'en party in the Catholic Church Base- ment. Next they produced their first play, which proved to be quite successful. It was Rootin' Tootin' Ranch, a western comedy, which was received by a large audience. September 3, 1950, welcomed back 26 members in the Junior Class. The officers chosen for this year were: President, Jo Ann Reilly, Vice President, Paul Yanknnichg secretary, Mary Shinlockg Treasurer, Fred Ziminsky. October proved to be an exciting month for the Juniors. The time came for them to chose their class rings which they received in January. The numerous activities conducted this year wercg partici- pating in the school Hallowe'en party, selling magazine subscriptions, selling Christmas cards, wrappinqs, and everyday cards, and chanced off a turkey. They held a party at Christmas time in the Catholic Church Basement. We as Seniors think we should take this place in our year book to wish the Junior Class luck and success in their Senior Year. They came from Dennison Township, East Side, Tannery, and White Haven. Their first class meeting was held to select their class officers. The results of the election were: Presi- dent, Gerald Millerg Vice President, William Radley, Secretary, Sally Oberrenderg Treasurer, Eugene Farrell. The first activity of the year was a Hal1owe'en party. Everyone came costumed, and the night proved to be full of fun for all those who attended the party. In December they exchanged names for Christmas gifts Ihich were given out at a gay holiday party. February marked the beginning of their activities to raise funds for their Senior year. Chances were sold on a cake and doilies. On September 8, I95O, we found 33 boys and girls Iaiting to begin the second year toward their goal of graduation. At their first meeting they elected their class officers: President, Ronald Wheeler, Vice President, Marelyn Brumbachg Secretary, William Varkletg Treasurer, Eugene Farrell. Anxious to earn money for their Washington trip, they chanced off a cake. December found them selling Christmas corsagesg this proved to be quite successful. --2-'iii' u ,, . ,r ? 5. - L..-1 4- F, , . , .-. , , . ,- .1.,-,-, 1-,-f. W ,, ' ' 1 j V . Donald Stubbs was selected as captain. Although the team could not get start- ed and was somewhat of a disappointment, everything pointed to the very small floor upon which they must play. After having been cramned in this small court it was hard to get accustomed to all the other courts in the region which, of course, are much bigger and better.' , The team ended its season with a record of II wins and II losses. This was the best record of any White Haven team in over IO years and is something to be proud of. g The varsity players were: Seniors-Donald Stubbs, George Timlnsky, Am i Helper, Gordon Ackers, and Chester Perch: Juniors-Milton Miller and Fred Zimlnskyg Sophomores-Charles Feist, Raymond Clymer, and Gene Farrell. HCheerleadersH As the basketball season got underway, we found the cheerleaders as enthusiastic and willing as the team. The cheerleaders following the team through thick and thin were: Dcrris Martini, Jacqueline McCloskey, Barbara Wheeler, Mary Farrell, Mary Shinglock, Lois Klem, Marly Brun- bach, and Carol Fox. Their captain was Dorris Martini. The J.V. Cheerleaders were: Kate 0'Donnell, Jean Jones, Helen Murphy, and Donna Travis. These girls will never forget nor regret their effort, and they will always be remembered by everyone who has seen them in action. The sportsmanship of these girls will never be forgotten. We know they will be successful in whatever they may do in life. We wish them all the luck in the future. Little Georgie Kolcun became the team's mascot and helped out the cheerleaders in most of the games this season. Fans really enjoyed seeing him, and we hope he will be around again next year. - I f. 5 7 1 Q 7 l 7 V ,--il-'TE ?'7fI,g ' 3i,... ,i if 1 g T1-fag-- 3 i1S? l?f: 'Afftl H -, ff. -'Q FE g 5 ' ' lf' T .1 + -4 ff f-i f ,, - A ff ' 'f-Y,Q1,,..-,'if-if' fi l f i if - 7 ig! -gg -+4 fi ' ' -tffgf' 4' Qi - Y l -:1if f' g 1 if ?:+.: l-V ' 'Sill grin- - 4:2 A w fig- ' -f 'R iff Q 4 - . rf - l i..
