A tour of the steel mills at Pueblog trips to Seven Falls, Mt. Manitou, and the prison at Canon City, with a picnic lunch in the bus be- cause of raing ice skating and swimming at the Broadmoorg dinner at the Swiss Chaletg dancing in the Silver Fox room, and a banquet and dance at the headquarters hotel, the Alamo, were high- lights ofthe five-day vacation. ni ' sf' l........ Members of the department planted a grass garden of 20 different grasses and legumes, but a large part of their time was spentin developing shop skills, particularly in welding. Orville Phillips served as district treas- urer and received the DeKalb Agricultural Achievement Award. J. Alford repeated from last year. One of the high points of the year was the 102 points scored against Kress in the Panhandle tourney, when the Bucks defeated the Kangaroos 102 to 47. The girls won dis- trict, bi-district, and regional titles before falling in their first game at the state tourney. The Does went on to win their next game and the Class A third place trophy. Besides the league titles, the Does also won champion- ships in the tournaments at Sunray, Panhandle, and White Deer. Lorean Holloway and Pokey Freeman were all-tournament choices at all three tournaments and then finished the season by gaining places on the all-state team, with Pokey being a unanimous choice. Nancy McConnell made the all-tournament team at Sunray and Panhandle and was joined by Patsy Holloway at the latter. The team lost only three members, the captains, Ioy Kotara, Nancy, and Lorean.
