The Indians won the N.C.A.A. Conference Championship for the first time in ten years of football history. They won all five conference games. The team lost to Cedar Springs and Comstock Park, both non-confer- ence teams. A tie in the 1945 football game between White Cloud and Newaygo, resulted in one of our boys bringing a jug to school to see which of the teams could win it in the following year. White Cloud won it in '46-47, but by mishap lost it in '48. The Newaygo Lions held the jug for three consecutive years. White Cloud regained the jug in 51 by winning the Con ference Championship and scoring over Newaygo Senior boys with trophy FELOS MUDGET and FOWLER E i' v-1 Jfn, 1 The following seniors, who have contributed much to the team, have played their last game for the Indians: Douglas Berndt, Walter Felos, Bob Fowler, and Ierry Mudget. The team will, no doubt, feel a great loss in their graduation. Ierry Mudget and Bob Fowler were elected co-captains for the year. Bob Fowler was also elected the most valuable player of the year. Conard Thum- ser and Iohn Gustin were voted the most improved players.
