We were busy decorating floats and halls. Plan- ning each day's wardrobe for Spirit Week was especially fun. Rain can- celled our parade, however, the Huskie spirit thundered at the afternoon pep rally. Our spirit would not be dampened! As the rain continued into the evening, the coronation ceremony was moved inside to the gymnasi- um. We extended congratulations to Monty Stilwell and Ilona Bixler as they were crowned King and Queen. Unfortunately, the Huskies fell to defeat on the gridiron. Following the game, students and alumni enjoyed themselves at the dance held in the gymnasium. As the evening closed, we all held many special memories of our Homecoming week. .-.,. Under the leadership of coach Kirk Kelley, we started our season by eliminating members in order to designate the Varsity team, which included Olaf Mueller, Dawn Dickman, Chris Averill, Ste- ven Oliver, and Mike Stenstrom. Our win-loss record for our season was 2 - 4. Tournaments we compet- ed in included Abilene and Harvey County. Our Varsity squad also participated in qualifying rounds for T.V. High-Q tournaments at Butler County Community College and Washburn University. February 2 was an exciting day at WCHS when our team sponsored its first intra-school tournament. Thirty-two students participated, and the winners are pictured below. We're all looking forward to an even more active season next year.
