AQ: ,. D 0 The yearbook staff Wishes to dedicate the MATOSKAN of 1965, to Mr. Ernest M. Thomsen, Superintendent of the White Bear Lake area public schools. Mr. Thomsen came to White Bear Lake in 1952 as Assistant Superintendent of Business Affairs and remained at that position until 1962 when he then became Superintendent of Schools. Prior to serv- ing our community, Mr. Thomsen was Superintendent of Schools at Pemberton and Lake Benton, Minnesota. After completing his under-graduate studies at Mankato State College, our Superintendent received his M.A. and Specialist in Education degrees from the University of Minnesota. An active participant in the com- munity, Superintendent Th o m s e n is a member of the White Bear Lion's Club, Chamber of C 0 m m e r c e , American Legion, Minnesota Association of School Administration, the American Associa- tion of School Administration, as well as other professional organizations. Mr. Thomsen's arrival on the White Bear scene is associated with an expand- ing school population and an extensive building program. He has been one of the men responsible in the planning and designing ofour new circular high school which has received national acclaim. This dedication displays the appre- ciation of Wh ite Bear students to a dedicated educator.
