' r,Q.' + Resorts included weiner roasts and our Jr, Sr: Banquet high-lighted the year. ,Side trips were indulged in to the Athletic Fields, where numerous passengers became proficient in basketball, softball,and other games, The mental food contained many morsels hard to chew and digest, but with the Faculty Chefs and Porters, Mr, Hendrix, Miss Mayhew, Mr, Wells, and Miss Grace Strain who had replaced Miss de Vane, declaring that UIt must be accomplished or we'll throw you off the Trainu, the Junior passengers nebly did their duty, Then came the happy day when the group was trans- ferred to the Senior Coach with increased privileges and responsibilities with George Tucker as class president, This year several passengers boarded our Train., Among them were: Mildred Carter, Aldon Earl Dixon, Bonnie ' Fountain, Sallie Fisher, Norman Gay, and J. P, Braswell, Only two of our former passengers, Milton Lewis and 4 Mattie Harrison, dropped off. The grade became steeper, the journey rougher, but ah, the glorious view as the w class of-1941 looked out on Commencement Station looms ing in the near distance, These Senior passengers who had been companions during the long journey became even more closely united in school spirit and class bends. We came to appreciate more fully the supervision given us by f Conductors Hudson and Baker, and the Capable Faculty Chef Mrs, Gaston Moore, Miss Alice Venable, and Miss Mary Emma Knox. we enjoyed the stops made for High Schogl 1 Day at Chapel Hill, the Jr. Sr. Banquet, the Brunswick Stew and Barbecue Supper given us by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weeks, and also the Barbecue Supper given us by our mascot's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cutchin. We grew quite puffed up over the records of certain members in the Athletic Field, especially when we won the Trophy in the Gold Medal Tournament. Outstanding members of our class also participated in the Glee Club Paviliong Also our class was the first to begin a school annual, We successfully passed the close inspection of the, examiners who checked up on our gabbage of Knowledge, and we now stand ready for a final transfer at Commencement Station, on the Mount of Learning, we leave the Senior Coach to become passengers on various roads, leading through the Valley of Opportunity in the Land of the Great Beyond, to the Cities of Success, Fame, and Worthy Achievement.
