| Community and Scholarship Fund This committee coordinates Wheelock’s Commun- ity Drives. Our fall drive sponsored the Beverly School for the Deaf. We found great satisfaction assisting the handicapped youngsters. The goal of | our spring drive: to give a fellow student a partial scholarship toward the completion of her college education, was accomplished through the combined help of students, alumnae, faculty and friends. Committee members: A. MacVicar, E. Chaffee, J. Emerson, M. Fryer, L. Thom- as, D. Black and C. Moustakis, Chair- man, J. Dexter and A. Abate. Cultural Activities Committee Continuing toward its goals of bringing Wheelock students cultural experiences of a high quality, the committee presented assemblies such as “Intellectual Life in Russia”, “Passive Resistance”, and programs including plays and folk singing. The college has responded wonderfully to these programs, showing its appreciation by filling its recreation hall and en- thusiastically questioning our speakers. The com- mittee hopes that such interaction between the stud- ent body and cultural activities will continue next year. Members of the Cultural Activities Committee discuss an assembly: K. DuPont, E. Downs, D. Dupee, L. Waterhouse, Chairman, and G. Hutchins. What will your fu- ture role be? Dr. Martha White speaks on women in today’s world. 77

The Key The Key, under the guidance of Mr. Robert Meredith, is a quarterly publication which has inspired contributions from all students inter- ested in creating short stories, poetry, essays, art, and children’s literature. Members of the student body served as critics, helping the literary staff in its choice of material for each i ssue. At a Publications’ Banquet in the spring, the Key awarded prizes for the best literary, musical and artistic contributions. By contributing to the Key, many students who had never written creatively before have found enjoyment, satisfaction, and a new interest in literary expression. HAvE A Heart!
