I, being a flying comet resort operator, visited with the class of 1959. First to arrive by the rocket, Jupiter 36, was Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Pierson Qformerly Sharon Allenl and four little Pierson 's. They are now owners of the Thousand Hills farm which extends from Kirksville to Milan and from Unionville to Browning. Sharon devotes full time to helping build fences and to feeding her growing family. The next to arrive was Mr. Donald Anderson now president of FLOP Labor Union. He is to make a stop over to negotiate with the Mars Labor Unions. The trip may be delayed a few days to remlinisce with his old steady Frankie fZsa Zsaj Fitzpatrick, who is head of the Venus Model Agency. Frankie will continue with Donald on to Mars. The next I happened to meet was Mr. Kenneth Corzette, owner of the Corzette Construction Camp. Kenneth was iust called in on his first job on the Moon to con- struct a highway to Mars. Kenneth is still batching, and is fairly well satisfied, but he says he plans to marry in the future. Miss Shirley C3-osshas finally decided after 16 years to give up her career as rocket hostess on the rocket, Jupiter 36, to marry Colonel Jack Isaacs. She thinks that will be a pleasant way to get back to earth. gy Cry, retired baseball shortstop, and now owner of the Pluto Hounds Space Champions Baseball Team, arrived in his especially built Cadillac Rocket. Jerry now tips the scales at 300 pounds which almost weights the rocket down. Jerry and his wife the former Janice Head now 6'4 made one of the most outstanding couples at the picnic Mr. and Mrs. PerrLand Hazel McCollum arrived on their free vacation trip through the Neptune Cheerios Cereal Company. Corky and Hazel brought their 12 children and they informed us number 13 is on the way. Cheaper by the Dozen, says Corky. They now live in the old Wheeling School building which is about the right size for their brood. Next we met Mr. and Mrs. G21 Welborn. Judy and Gary are on their second honeymoon. Garys' is now Dean of the Wheeling University. Judy and Grays' three children find it strict living with a Dean, but they are very satisfied since Gary has bought each a new T-Bird, a Jaguar, and a new Lark. Then we met Richard lmey. He is now a reporter for the Comet Press at Brookfield. Richard says you sure see a lot of girls being a reporter. He has been married four times and they have all been beauty queens. He is now trying to discover another on the outer planets. fBeauty queen that is.1 Next to arrive was Mr. Richard Wayne McKiddy and wife, Thelma. Dick, now working for the Missouri Moon Welding Company, is repairing the line which extends from Wheeling to the Moon. Thelma and Dicks' six children, ranging from 6 to 12, find it hard to finish school on the run. Last but not least to arrive was Mr. R21 Thorne and wife, the former Dolores Albert- son. Ron owns his own stables so you know their hobby is horseback riding. Dee really enioys that kind of life. She even goes on roundups with Ron, so you see they are still horsin' around together. 16 F r F, i ilL ' - , . i - 21'. Our destination was Bagnell Dam at the Lake of the Ozarks. We stopped at Macon for a coffee break at about 6 o'clock. Our next stop was at Eldon for a mid-morning snack. As usual we got on the wrong road before we arrived at the Dam. We went about eight miles before we discovered our error. But we arrived at the Ozarks about l0:30. We stayed at the Lodge of the Ozarks, a newly built motel on the beach. That afternoon everyone went boat riding with Gene. The girls didn't particularly like to ride in boats, but they went along to be around Gene. Seven adventurers rented a red speedboat and went out around a lonely island. Some wanted more excitement so they rode the seaplane that afternoon. That night almost everyone went on the excursion boat, The Governor, and on returning danced at the Barefoot Club. At ll o'clock that night there was a wiener roast on the beach. Thelma bought three hats while she was in the Ozarks, but she lost them all except one. After she had bought her third hat we decided that we had better start home before she lost her hat again. Another loss accurred during lunch in Stover at a small cafe. Richard left his billfold in the cafe for a thirteen dollar tip. Kenneth thought this was an excessive amount to leave, even a pretty waitress, so he broughwfiebillfold along. He returned it later in the afternoon, much to the surprise of Richard. We arrived home at about 5:30 that evening. Everyone was tired and sleepy. JUN IOR-SE N IOR BANQUET The Wheeling P.T.A. sponsored our Junior-Senior Banquet with serving of the meal by the Young Married Class of the Methodist Church. The Junior Class chose the theme of Rendezvous of the Stars and carried out the theme in pink, blue, and silver crepe paper streamers to make the ceiling for the gym. The tables and other decorations were built around the theme with stars and moon, topped off with dunce hats for everyone. The Welcome was given by Louise Seifert, president of the Junior Class and the response by Ronald Thorne, president of the Senior Class. The Senior Class Prophecy and Will were read, and everyone enjoyed them immensely. The food was served in three courses, which was, the cocktail, tomato iuice, main course, ham with cherry sauce, green beans, baked potatoes, rolls, ice tea, coffee, and desert, pie with ice cream. The program booklets were passed for autographs, and for entertainment, the Junior-Senior girls sang a few songs, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Mary Bush. 1' Qld!
