Some of us are better prepared than others. Yet, the opportunity is there for those who want itg and those who don't want it are not forced to take it. Those who do not avail themselves of the opportunity soon realize what a mistake they have made. They feel their life is being wasted and allow themselves to continue along that path. ' There are those among us who are treading that path-not because they have to, but because they want to. They do not realize that it is never too late to step out and make an effort to succeed in life. What one has done, or failed to do, is in the pastg what he does now is the important thing. We of the Record Staff feel this can best be summed up in the motto of Wheeling High's 1967 graduating class: yj'The, Future Depends Upon the Presentn gf if ,,-W W' WL V ' ,. y' T ,M , if ii aff Q W If J L aaa UMW M323 , ,mln DNA gy +5 . Dedication x T0 WHOM WE DEDICATE THE YEARBOOK It would be a difficult task to sum up fifteen years of service by a dedicated man in a single paragraph. Those fifteen years represent a great deal of hardship and work to Mr. Edwin Murphy, to whom we, the Class of 1967, dedicate our yearbook. For the past twelve years, Mr. Murphy has occupied the position of head basket- ball coach, a job which he is well qualified to hold. A graduate of Wheeling High School, Mr. Murphy played football under Coach Bob Roe. His understanding and love of sports stem from years of practice and experience. Mr. Murphy has given unselfishly of his time, worked with would-be athletes, and helped build boys into men. He has taught both boys and girls alike a valuable lesson-to give a task all you have, and to develop your abilities to their fullest. He has been the supreme example of sportsmanship, he has taught us to win with humility, but lose with pride. . The Class of 1967 takes great pride in having known a man such as Mr. Murphy. He has been a friend, confidante, and leader to many of us and for that we shall never forget him. And so to you, Mr. Edwin Murphy, we gratefully extend our appreciation for helping to make our three years at Wheeling High School memorable ones. We sincerely hope that you continue to help and encourage young people as you have done with us. BCH
