HOMECOMING: OCTOBER 30, 1953 MISS JUANITA JACOBS, QUEEN S- fi 'S rf '5 Wggau Q Yi 1953 PIRATES The Wheelersburg High School Football Team made a very good showing in the 1953 Season. Under the guidance of Mr. Hopkins, head coach and Mr. Groh, Assistant, the team has shown much progress since last year. This year we won five games out of nine, while last year we only won three games during the season. The last part of the season showed what experience and hard work can do for a team, for during the last five games only two touchdowns were made against us. Our defensive players were outstanding during the whole year and rate among the best in the S.O.C. League. We are looking forward to our football season next year, however, we will miss Fraley, Reese, Hogan, D. Mor- gan, Ed.Miller,White, R. Boyer, L. Green, Strickland, Bailey, all Seniors who played their last game at Waver- ly on November 6th, Also, next year we look forward to using our new football field located behind the Ele- mentary Building. THE SEASON 'S SCORES: Pirates Notre Dame Pirates New Boston Pirates East Pirates Wurtland Pirates Raceland Pirates Chesapeake Pirates Washington Pirates South Point Pirates Waverly The team was honored at abanquet given by the Booster's Club in the high School Cafeteria on November 24th.
