The appearance of area church officials and former pastors of the Third Baptist Church highlighted the afternoon service. A buffet in Glen Chapel afterward refreshed those who sweltered in the day’s sultry heat. The $200,000 project saw a complete overhaul of the san.tuary, construction of a new stairway to the balcony, the installation of new lighting, and a restoration of the exterior of the building. NORTH STONINGTON -“Lack of interest” has forced Wheeler High School to drop girls’ cross-country from its fall sports program. Enrollment Drops Principal John Hanley said that Kathryn Johanessen and Robert Banker placed in the top 5 percent of more than one million participants in the 29th annual program.
