Follow Your Dream Take One Step At A Time 4 If You Stumble Don’t Stop 5 C) 03 9 11 Press On . . . And Follow Your Dream. Dedication Mrs. Williams came to our first class meeting in 1975 and was determined to take our class for the next six years. Some were unsure about this organized leader but through the years the doubt seemed to vanish. She has given all her devotion and willingness to the class of 1981. She stayed with us when things were the dimmest and smiled with us when things were shining bright. We want to dedicate this yearbook and the last six years to Mrs. Williams, who has made so many things happen that were said to be impossible. We hope that she will always know that she has been and always will be the key to our class. With sincere and loving hearts, we say thank-you. Class of 1981 Special Recognition Mr. Blake You became our advisor during our junior year and immediately began helping us with our finances and our problems. We are greatly indebted to you for all that you have done for us. Your smiles and your laughter have raised all our spirits. Mrs. Scott You came to us in our senior year and wanted to be our advisor. The way you handled the Senior Ball and other activities proved to us that you were dedicated to getting things done for the class of 1981. The class of 1981 is grateful to both of you for the fine jobs you have done. 14 Mrs. Macina Mrs. Crouch The work you’ve done on the evening classes and behind the scenes have given the class a good name in the community. Thank you for a job well done and for all your support. Thanks for always being there when we needed you most and for the great job you did on the Florida trip. If it wasn’t for you, we never would have had the finances to go. We will always be grateful. Mr. Lonsway Your never ending guidance and care for all of us leaves us with a wonderful feeling of love. We will always cherish your close and personal friendship as we continue to grow. It was not until the fourth game that the team registered its first victory. A few breaks in Wheeler’s favor could have made the season extremely successful but it was not to be. There were a number of exciting moments such as the 5-1 win over Hale Ray under the lights as well as some disappointing ones. Yes, believe it or not, we’re here again at Ramada Inn in Mystic, Conn, only this time it’s ten years from graduation. Sherry Lane, here with her camera, is talking a mile a minute. Does anyone know who she’s talking to? Oh well, as we glance around the parking lot, all is fairly quiet — No, wait a minute. It sounds like someone’s coming. Yes! A small-no, a rather large cloud is coming down the road. He-e-e-r-r-e-e they come! It’s Darrel Williams in the pace car (or is that Count Dracula???). Wait! There’s someone trying to pass Glenn! Is it the Evil Knievel? No! It’s Tom Bromley on his trophy winning racing bike. Looks like Glenn’s pit crew now, piling out of a red Cougar, of course being driven by Fitzy. Here’s George Tucker, Jody Collins, and Leroy “Elroy” Cousens all wearing red jackets with “Glenn’s Go For It Gang” on the backs. The cars are starting to really pile in now. WHOO! Here comes the big expensive loong car, but it looks as if there’s no driver. Oops! Sorry, Mel. We didn’t see you. Sounds like CHitty Chitty Bang Bang is coming now. No, it’s Sue with a new VW bug. Piling out of the new shiny care are Sue, Kyleen, and Trisha. Ready for a second try, Sue? Talking about clunkers, here comes Eric Falardeau with his charming contribution to the Wonderful World of Automobiles followed by a white pick-up truck. Guess who? Wow! Mike Abel in a tux. Who’d have ever thought that he was voted Class Klu ... Oh No! Would someone please help Mike up? No, not you, John! There’s two down. Anybody else want to try? Here comes Ronny — on a snowmobile? But Ronny, there’s no snow! His usual reply of “Wha-a-a-a?” tells us that Ronny hasn’t changed much. The bucks are arriving now. Just look at that new Corvette. We should have know it’s Doreen and her millionaire husband. Well, let’s go inside now to — WAIT! Is that Brandon? He’s just finishing up the Boston Marathon and decided that he could use the exercise, so he jogged a few extra miles to get here. Congrats, Brandon! Deb Gurnee is taking tickets and checking people in at the door. No, Deb we don’t need name tags. Thanks anyway. The host of this grand party, Greg, is greeting people at the door and handing out door prizes — pitchers? The noise level is rising, but we can still hear Karen Ellis talking as usual. A conversation with Karen could last all night! Scott Cornell has just arrived and on crutches!! With all these injuries, you might think that there might be some psychological side effects, but Scott’s case is being handled by the chief Head Shrinker at Norwich, Teresa Carter. Janet Haines and Errol Ahearn are battling it out in the final round for the International Asteroids Championship. You’ve made it this far so GO FOR IT!! Oh my gosh! Is that Cheryl Tiegs? No, it’s Terri Porter. Looking good, Terri! Jan Halley, who is the manager of Steak Loft and hostess of the party is trying to get everyone’s attention. Evidently she has some information about the people who are not here. Let’s listen. “Evelyn Baker couldn’t be here tonight because she has an executive meeting at Harvard University of which she is now dean. Deb Grillo is on her way to Europe as a flight attendant on a 747.” How’s the weather up there, Deb? Barbara Tew is up to her old tricks again. She is presently taking two management courses at once which will allow her to skp the step of Assistant no Manager and go straight to Senior Manager of the company. Michelle Birkbeck is closing a land deal in Texas” Watch out for J. R., Michelle. “Speaking of warm weather, our Miss Janet Brooks is in Florida posing in bathing suits designed by Linda LeHouillier for the bathing suit issue of Sports Illustrated. Come back, guys. The issue won’t be out for another week or two.” Passing out refreshments is Gina Angiolelli. After 15 years, it gets pretty easy, hun, Gina? Oh no!! Heather, watch out! Well, there’s a wasted tray of drinks. Here comes a new tray. Ahhhhh!! Nothing like a cold mug of... ?? O.K. Who left the beverages up to Gwyn? Well, 1 hope everyone likes either iced tea or lemonade. The music tonight is being brought to you by Dave Nelson and his portable radio. He never leaves home without it. Well, Marsha’s at it again. Complain, Complain, Complain!! Scott Thompson seems to be having a grand old time, and he doesn’t need any help! Laurie Burbine, now president of “Laurie and Jimmy Graffitti Co.”, is circulating around trying to sell her stamp that allows you to stamp a heart and four initials anywhere you like. The different styles were created by her art department which is headed by Rachelle Johnstad and Anne McGowan. We have quite a few other Businessmen here tonight. Mike Macina and Doug Sasko are the executive supervisors in charge of merchandise at the World Famous Wild Turkey Farm of which Mike Karsten is president. The Class of 1981 has given them their upmost support for the success of the business. The financial books are kept in perfect order by their accountant, Holly King. Speaking of money, there must be quite a bit flowing through Karen McCarthy’s hands. She is head beautician at “Stars R Us” in New York City. We have a bit of entertainment now. Here’s Neil Jones nd the Boston Celtics! There seems to be one missing. Here he, 1 mean she, comes. It’s Marilyn Williams. And now we’ll have an exhibition by world known, Black Belt artist Karen Misovich. Go get’em Karen! We’ve just received word that Rhona Hellenbracht will be late because she’s just finishing up the America Cup Race. Good Luck, Rhona! Who’s are these? Patty’s??? 1 ...2...3...4... How many kids do you have, Patty? Dee Dee White runs her own library now. Some say she keeps the quietest in the east. Also, on the quiet side of things are Shelley Lapinski, Martha Anderson, Paul Curtin, and Norman Lee. They have been chosen to represent the “silent majority” in a debate on 20 20. Remember if you plan to tune in, turn your volume up before you start to watch. Barb Cronin has bought out “Tater’s” By the way, all the party hats have been contributed by “Dolly’s Hat Store” owned by Dolly Miner. Thanks, Dolly! WE couldn’t help but notice all the custom made license plates out in the parking lot. The standard feature of “dool” on the plates tells us that they must have been purchased at “ken-dools Custom Plate Shop” at R R. More little varmits are running around, but these belong to Judy Verhasselt. Have fun, Judy! For final entertainment tonight, we have Bobby Stities now a famous contortionist who got his start in the cubby hole in Senior Hall. Picture time!!! Oh-oh! Where did Lisa Winslow and Deb Taylor go to? Come on, you guys. One little picture won’t hurt. Before you leave, there are a few things at the door. Mr. Blake is taking a collection for our next reunion. Cash only? Mrs. Scott is taking suggestions for the next meeting place. Anthony’s anyone? And don't forget to pick up the alumni newsletter which Mrs. Williams is passing out. “NOW DON’T FRET, AND DON'T YOU FROWN: 'CAUSE WE’LL BE BACK TEN YEARS FROM NOW .. Mix with love, and scatter with helpful words. Add a smile or two. Throw in a spice of cheerfulness. Stir with a hearty laugh. Share with everyone. I’ll miss everyone. Thanks and I love you. Gwyn Crouch “What lies behind and what lies before you are tiny matters compared to what lies within you.” Emerson. Best wishes for a future filled with much love, success and happiness. Don Lonsway In the garden of life, just think of the flowers and pass the rest as you go; remember the bright and sunshiny hours and forget the rain and the snow; think of the friends who are loyal and true, let the rest of the world go its way; remember the years but forget the tears, and you’ll find contentment each day!
