A YEAR IN REVIEW . . . We were honored with a parking attendant on the first day of school Mr. Cope sat on the roof for three hours the Ice Storm on December 25, 1987 which caused the electricity to be out for a week . . . students sitting with the teachers at lunch every day . . . Iason Steinbach's Halloween Party . . . the new shrubs were torn out of the ground in front of the High School . . . the breakfast program was introduced . . . Zinnert's car was found in the Ag building with the windows shot out . . . the seniors threw a party at the Pioneer Bridge . . . three Carl Iunction students killed a fellow classmate as a religious sacrifice . . . received our first foreign exchange students at Wheaton High . . . the caller for Barnwarming didn't show up . . . Black Monday, October 19, 1987: Stock Market Crash . . . Iim and Tammy Faye Bakker . . . three senior girls received Promise Rings for Christmas . . . the baby was taken from Freeman Hospital in Ioplin . . . most of the High School students brought notes from home to skip on opening day of trout season . . . the Minnesota Twins won the World Series . . . the Washington Redskins won the Super Bowl . . . the Los Angeles Lakers won the World Championship . . . this was Mr. Nolan's last year at WHS . . . the grade school released balloons . . . the front compartment peeled off of a jet: the pilot flew the passengers to safety, only one airline stewardess was killed . . . the school cafeteria fed us pizza as a main course weekly, Csome thought the reason behind it was - there were steroids in itj . . . Traci Mason and Doug Cole threw a party around Valentine's Day . . . a massive drought swept through the nation during the summer of '88 . . . seniors were handed the wrong diploma at graduation . . . the Poultry Team qualified for nationals for the 2nd time . . . and lastly, in the history of the Wheaton Yearbook, it was the latest date that the yearbook was sent in to be processed.
