There was one minor difficulty in producing the musical. The ceiling over the stage was ruled unsafe and needed to be repaired. Also, the stage was declared off limits until January. Through all the trials and tribulations, the cast proceeded with rehearsals, and in January both the stage and the cast were ready. The Boyfriend was a comedy about boarding school girls in Nice, France. The seventeen-year-olds were ready to date and marry. During the play, the girls and boys experienced many amusing mishaps while trying to get together. The climax of the musical was the costume ball at the end where all were happily engaged. The Boyfriend was a wonderful combination of comedy and drama. The audience loved it - especially when Mr. Gerace and alumni Suzi Bennett danced a Tango. Once again, Wheaton Central's fine arts department put on a spectacular show. 18
