The staff felt that the name Orange and BIack lacked imagination and also placed them in regards to choosing covers and themes. They also wanted a name which was representative of the high standards of academia which this school has always had. For these reasons, the I936 staff petitioned the school for the right to change the name of the yearbooks, and by popular vote amoung the students. that right was granted. But what does WECOMl mean,? If asked that many students would answer, I don't know. I think it means welcome, but they spelled it wrong. Well, although the yearbook staff has always welcomed the students to contribute to the annual. that is not where the name comes from. WECOMI comes from the name of the school itself, which in I936 was Wheaton Community High School. CWhEaton COMmunity hlgh.j For fifty years the memories of our school's students have been kept forever strong through the Wecomi. and so will the memories of the future Tigers of Wheaton Central High School.
