VARSITY 2l Glenbard South 7 6 Wheaton North ll 20 West Chicago 0 I3 Naperville Central 3 23 Glenbard North 0 0 Naperville North g 3 ll Glenbard East 0 A first in Illinois, the Wheaton Central varsity football team scored its 400th victoryl They finished third in conference with a final record of 5 wins and 4 losses. Two of these losses were forfeits due to the teachers' strike. After a disappointing loss to Wheaton North, the Tigers proceeded to win their next three games by a combined score of 6l to 3. The Tiger defense ran up a string of I8 quarters without a touchdown. However, the string was broken during the game against Naperville North in which they were able to score a touchdown against us while in overtime and during a driving rainstorm. All-conference honors were earned this season by Burgess Watts, Eric Anderson, Jeff Tripp, Andy Weisner and Ben Navigato. The Tiger team elected Scott Ohlman most improved while Greg Silletto was voted most inspirational. Bill Muir won the best defensive player award, while Burgess Watts won that of best offensive player. Jeff Barton and Burgess Watts shared the most valuable player award. Mark Marschitz was the recipient of the Larry Brock Best Lineman Award, and Bill Muir won the Don S. Garner award. Co-captains this year were Bill Muir, Burgess Watts and Eric Anderson. The Junior Varsity team through its patience and persistence finished their season with a record of 2 wins, 3 losses. I tie, and I forfeit.
