In the sports arena that day, the boys golf team went up against other area teams in the conference and was Ind out of II teams! Thus began Homecoming week, l985. Tuesday, fewer of the students dressed up, but those who did, were hilarious, as they tried to imitate their favorite teachers. On Wednesday, Wheaton Central looked as if it was having a giant slumber party, as students walked the halls in their flannel nightshirts and fuzzy bunny slippers. Thursday, was 50f6O's day at Wheaton Central, and any visitor coming through our doors would have thought he'd just walked into a time warp! Letter sweaters, bobby socks, peacesigns and leather jackets haven't been so abundant here for 30 years. An after school activity on Thursday was decorating hallways for class competition and for the Homecoming game on Friday. Friday the entire school buzzed with enthusiasm and Tiger Pride. The halls were covered in Orange and Black streamers, posters, spangles, and even students, as Friday was the traditional Orange and Black day. The pep assembly brought the excitement,to a fever-pitch, and everyone was ready for the big game. Another event of the day which immediately followed the pep assembly was the delayed powder puff game. The senior powder puff cheerleaders in full dress, of course, did their thing. The Homecoming game ended in a Tiger trouncing of Glenbard North, 23-O., At halftime Allison Gardner was crowned queen. On Saturday night, Glory Days, the Homecoming Dance saw Erik Snowbeck crowned king while students danced to the music of Surrender. 17
