Both scores were made in the first quarter: Glenlvardls on a 65 yard run that had us in despair until Durant lilocked a Glenlmard punt. Dick lnipey picked it up, and with the aid of some heautiful blocking, reached the goal line hefore he was stopped. Thar ended the scoring, although lwoth teains threatened in the following quarters. Rivmzsma 20, WHEA'roN 6 Crippled by injuries, Little Butch suffered his second loss of the season at the hands of Riverside of the NYest Sulaurhan Conference. The Tigers drew first lvlood, however, when Holi Duncan intercepted a Riverside lateral and carried it Q 35 yards to score. Wlheaton threatened again a few minutes later, hut the Ribs intercepted a wohhly pass and ran 85 yards to a touchdown. The Tigers rallied several times after this, but were unalwle to score. XYheaton hanl one of the hnest lines in the state this year, coupled with a strong passing attack, the Brunickf to-Duncan specialty heing one ofthe most closely watched plays in the conference. ,mc WEST C1-ucAoo 13, VVHEATON 14 jack Brunick and Harold Beutjer scored two extra points that spelled the difference between victory and defeat as VVheaton scored her last win of the season against West Chi. Near the close of the Hrst half, Durant scored from two yards out after picking up his own fumble. In the third quarter, however, the VVildcats took advantage of another fumble to score before anyone knew what had happened. Bob Duncan, in addition to being in on nearly every tackle of the game, further contributed to the victory by scoring a long pass one-handed on the 40, itnd outdistancing the We-Go backs to the goal me. SYCAMORE 0, VVHEATON 26 The first conference game of the season was an easy victory for the powerful Tiger eleven, reserves playing most of the game. The regular VVheaton line allowed Sycamore only one first down while in action. Fitzner, Karner, Durant, and Brunick made one touchdown apiece, while Hopf kicked the two extra points. SAINT CHAR1.Es 0, XY!-IEATON 32 The backfield had a rare old time at St. Charles intercepting 7 enemy passes. Sam Sublett snatched one of these and sprinted 83 yards to a touchdown, only to have the ball called back for clipping. Wilder took another of the Saint's wayward tosses for 51 yards and a touchdown that counted. Karner, Brunick, 30 and Durant also scored on long runs, with Duncan taking a pass for the other score. NAPEkvIl.1.E 0, VV:-:EATON I4 Although Naperville threatened twice during the game, they were pretty well bottled up the rest of the game by the Tiger forward wall. In the first quarter, Beutjer carried a pass to the Redskin's one yard line, from where Brunick plunged to score. Hopf kicked the conversion. In the fourth period, Durant scored on a plunge and Hopf faked a kick and passed to Brunick for the extra point. DUNDEE 0, XYHEATON 44 The Tiger forward wall held the Cardinals to a grand total of Zero first downs, while the Bengal backfield piled up 17. Having complete control of the game, VVheaton completed 9 passes and intercepted four of Dundee's passes with Brunick making 3 touchdowns, Durant, two, and Karner and Duncan one apiece. BATAVIA 0, VV!-1 aA'roN 54 Remaining unscored upon throughout their fifth conference game, the Tigers ran wild over a light but extremely fast Crimson eleven. Jack Brunick had a field day, completing I3 of 21 passes, scoring 25 points,and faking a punt on fourth down for a 55 yard touchdown run. Durant, Karner, Beutjer, Armbrust, Duncan, and Hopf also scored.
