I AUS'I', Miss HUSTED, MR. SANDHOLM Vol.. X NIIAY, I9-I5 PROGRESS NOW ln the years that we, the seniors, have been going to school, there have been many changes AND TO COME made during our four years. The rules of Student Conference have been changed for the benefit of the students. The class hours have been changed from seven periods to six periods a day and from forty-Five minutes to one hour in length. Elections have become more popular, and usually a lot closer. And as a whole, the school has undertaken a number of changes which are: school picnics, basket- ball dance, and having 3 lunch periods. Thereliore, we would like to show our apprciation for these changes by making the theme ot the Wecomi this year PROGRESS. The teachers are the leaders of Progress, who do their best toward educating the studentsgthe Board of Education the foundation of Progress, who super- vise the working of the schoolg the seniors are the height of the students of Progressg and the underclassmen are the beginners of Progress, who are just at the beginning of the long climb up to the class of seniors. We hope that you will be reminded of some of these things as you read this XYecomi now and also when you read it many years from now. xlll. lliiiiaiwiri' H. lluincsias . +, v 1 X , ii ' ' - l N .V -, J I Ks Xxx , Q X ,f 'J .- - I - If X X l X l iv X t Q X Y A r --A , R Dlflbli 'A'l'lCl7 l ui'l1is services iii rlie field lil-l'1NlflT2lll, lvaiskerlwzill, teaicliiiig, NIV. ROB HRTS M.lf. was born just outside of Philadelphia an odd 100 years ago. lt seems he has traveled a great deal and has built up a storehouse of information to relate to us in his classes. Somewhere in those travels he acquired the ability to make all of the puns for which he is so famous. VVe hope that some morning he will wake up and find he is the proud owner of a yacht so that he can go sailing to his hearts content. MR. K. K. 'I'IBBlrI'l l'S Mr. Tibbetts was born in Salem, Iowa. He attended Oberlin, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Chicago where he received his A. M. His ambition is to have an addition on YV.C.H.S. A step has been taken in the right direction since we have purchased 'KTibbett's Field. We would like to thank K.K. for showing a personal interest in all of us. MR. D. C. Bl'RGF.R Mr. Burger keeps all activities around W'.C.H.S. going at top speed with his new ideas. His love of hunting and fishing not only fills the wee hours of his mornings, but also often show themselves in the form of problems in physics tests. He can be sure his amazing patience with us doesn't go by unappreciated. lf you're ever looking for a topic of conversation with D.C. just mention the name Kiki and you'lI have no trouble. The year of ,4-lf and '45 has seen many improvements by the school board headed by Mr. Burt, the president. The members of the high school board of education, district No. 95, are as follows: Henry Jackson Burt, President, Constance I.. Cooley, Secretaryg Carlton T.. lfischer, Robert R. Kimbell, and john M. Player. The members of the Grade school board of education, district No.36,Paul H. Dunakin, Presidentg lflsa lf. Helfrich, Secretary, Hugh Coats, Harold S. Brown, Henry Jackson Burt, Constance l.. Cooley, and Robert R. Kiinbell. Right picture The Office Staff: Everyone from the green freshmen to the experienced Seniors has found the office staff, Mrs. Butcher, Ruby Raap, and lrene Stafford, a very handy trio when in trouble. Their friendly attitude and willingness to help has won them the friendship of many students. For most of us, our nrst ac- quaintance with Mrs. Butcher was when we, as freshmen, were lost in this great big school. Finding her a very handy person to have around, we imposed upon her good nature a little more each year until we fear that she will be glad to be rid of us. f. 'l'l'iACl'lHRS-V Bark rote---lX1k. Bob Duncan, in addition to being in on nearly every tackle of the game, further contributed to the victory by scoring a long pass one-handed on the 40, itnd outdistancing the We-Go backs to the goal me. SYCAMORE 0, VVHEATON 26 The first conference game of the season was an easy victory for the powerful Tiger eleven, reserves playing most of the game. The regular VVheaton line allowed Sycamore only one first down while in action. Fitzner, Karner, Durant, and Brunick made one touchdown apiece, while Hopf kicked the two extra points. SAINT CHAR1.Es 0, XY!-IEATON 32 The backfield had a rare old time at St. Charles intercepting 7 enemy passes. There was much campaigning done for the second election and the officers which were elected then will remain in oHice until next year. The assembly program displayed the can- didates in their form. The conference did its best to make the year of 1945 the best one the school has ever had. Even though they found it necessary to have a heart to heart talk with the student body on pressing issues, they really did a lot for the students. The OmC6I'S for the first part of the year were, president, Arnold Strassenburg, vice president, Bob lVIcAssey, secre- tary, Nancy Sayre, and treasurer Mary l.ou Pawlik.
