Through its studies the Bible and Philosophy Department seeks to prepare its students to teach and preach the Word of God simply, yet coherently, and to impart to them a broad background in philosophy and apologetics, enabling them to better comprehend and explain the truths in the Bible. Towards accomplishing this end, a major is required to take courses in general Bible knowledge, together with training in past and contemporary philosophic thought and thorough courses in the Greek New Testa- ment. GEORGE HORNER, M.A. aS CHARLES FOWLER, EARNEST YOUNG The history of the human family with its diverse cultures is an intriguing story. It is especially fas- cinating to those who are planning to work as missionaries and educators among ethnic groups whose customs seem peculiar to us. In the de- partment of Anthropology, students explore the origin, physical makeup, and distinguishing char- acteristics of men from all countries and races. This year the Anthropology Department has added new and significant names to its teaching staff. Ernest Young, of Westmont College, was visiting instructor in Evolution for the first semester. Charles F. Fowler, better known as ‘Bud’, ably guided students in the cultural branch of anthropology, while George Horner took his place as instructor of physical anthropology. The department is preparing scholars to fill needs in the fields of Christian apologetics and missions. B.S.
