Suggestions made their way later into Legislative Board which passed laws con- cerning open house in the dorms on Sun day afternoons, smoking after dinner in the parlors, and the suggested elimination of Freshman honor pledges. NSA | P. Reid, S. Vose, M. Land, A. Kahlo, S. Bates (standing) C. Meyer, C. Alden, A. Baldwin, E. Moore. HONOR BOARD ACADEMIC COMMITTEE TOUR. ACADEMIC COMMITTEE. HONOR BOARD (seated) J. Butch, B. Hitchcock. (standing) D. Olshansky. NSA TOUR (sated) L. Rogers, L. Lochner, P. Reid, (standing) P. Bean, N. Loh, F. Walker, N. Wu, (missing) M. J. Dawes. The Academic Committee working under chairmen Mary Jane Dawes and advised by Mrs. May, acts as a liason between faculty and stu- dents, discussing and suggesting academic pro- posals. This year the cut system and the purpose of the reading period were re-examined for clearer understanding and discussed in a joint meeting of the student committee and the Administrative Com- mittee. It was also suggested by the students of this group that the faculty be invited to more dinners, teas, and other activities in order to promote closer relations and in turn better mutual community feeling. The National Students Association here at Wheaton is a part of a country-wide organization of college students who meet together annually and more often regionally to discuss problems of “mut- ual concern.” Students at Wheaton have come to know the N.S.A. through the non-profit tours which the association sponsors in which several students have participated. This organization has many more phases which are invaluable to stu- dent understanding throughout our country and the other free countries of the world. Honor Board this year, composed of class rep: presentatives meeting with Judicial Chairman, Mar- jorie Land, has aimed at tightening and strength- ening the point system which was introduced last year, working efficiently toward more consistently objective decisions while still allowing a certain margin for human frailty and error.
