I looked into a giant looking glass . And saw my image, yet I knew it not. I asked myself as if | were THE PROPHET “If this is the day of harvest, In what fields have I sowed the seed?”’ hs aid The reflection told me it is one great day Of many Lapuent, for in it is sown The fullnesses of beauty and of freedom, Of friendship and of pleasure and of knowledge; g And greater still, within its noon, ideals. ) lt has awareness of a universe And a vacant self to be made full With the sense of knowing others’ fruits. These fullnesses will find maturity Through choices and responsibility. The importance of this harvest day Will be reaped again but with aged hands, By those which will be wiser for their age. All ages find their ages in reflection; And now, apart from double images, One beholds a double looking glass. One side reflects reflection in detail; 4 The other sketched and yet undone Is my unfinished image - thus I know it not. ‘ This side holds the challenge for its artist. We are, then, the artists who may paint A fruitful harvest in our mediums, : Forming portraits with the things we know; Applying colors thus to understand The constitution of our likenesses, In giving quality to harvests we produce.
