Across the mat looms a huge, muscular frame with enormous hands! Small streams of sweat trickle down your face. Suddenly the shrill whistle blows! Gulping bravely, you rush forward. With a loud crash the lights seem to grow strangely dimmer! Like some ferocious beast, the opponent breaths heavily into your gaping mouth! Then it's all over. Slowly stumbling up you feel sick. There's no one else to blame but yourself! Because wrestling is such a rugged, individual sport, only the most determined try out! Coach Harris begins work immediately! Practise becomes an agoniz- ing experience of being smeared over the mat face- down or tied in such tight knots that breathing seems almost impossible! Yes, and then after each work out , every muscle cries out with pain! Still legs walk mechanically but those who participate seldom com- plain! They love it! This year the wrestling squad had a very success- ful season. Co-captains John Novak and Dave Skon- berg provided a strong backbone for the team. Even the greenhorns showed amazing progress! With such a vital inflow of energy, the losing of several old stand-bys appears less harmful! .lohn Novak 145 pounds

Back row Hams Wnllnams Camp Dryness Grupp Barkdoll Rogers Carmean Van Engen Front row FROSH SOPH SQUAD BRIGHTENS FUTURE No I m only playnng Frosh Soph but maybe next year' Such a statement should never be made' Oh there s nothmg wrong wlth benng on the Frosh Soph squad However unless every last ounce of energy as spent rnght then and every passable opportunnty made use of there wall be no next year' Fnnnshung another successful season under the excellent management of Coach Peterson the Junior Warrnors greatly brughtened the prospects for a future champnon basketball team ' best Bull Dryness capably fulled the center posltlon while Sherm Wllllams and Norm Camp took over the forward duties Stull there was somethung lacking' Thus Jerry Burbrudge a 2nd semester transfer student received a royal welcome Together with Bull Mohlls the guard poslstlons were adequately fllled Jumping off to a poor start the Frosh Soph receuved several good trouncungs before becoming fsnally adgusted' Soon theur efforts began to pay off ' Ac cumulatnng 717 points throughout the season for an average of 34 6 polnts per game the Junuor Warruors flexed theur muscles' Yes many a thrnll marked the past season' Sadly enough only a few wall be remembered' Some games were close and tense up untul the fnnal buzzer whsle others were well not so close' Already one small but all Important chapter has closed Who knows what the next one may hold' , . , ' , . . . . , . . .
