homecoming Homecoming has been a small but im- portant part of Wheatfield High ' s history. Our first homecoming was held in 1960. Since then, however, Wheatfield students have become enthusiastic and willing to make their homecoming something to be remembered . The queens for the years 1960-1969 are as follows: 1960 - -Judy Norrick 1961 - -Joyce Noble 1962 - -Jo Ann Risner 1963 - -Diana Myers 1964- -Louise Wright 1965 - -Carol Stonebraker 1966 - -Nancy Hoffman 1967 - -Crystal Myers 1968 - -Vicki Theis 1969 - -Judy Duggleby The 1969-70 homecoming began with a pep session and parade of classes and their floats through the streets of Wheatfield on October 17. The Student Council awarded prizes of money to the classes with the best floats. Freshmen received third prize; Sophomores, sec- ond; and the Juniors and Seniors tied for first . At the half of the game between Wheat - field and Battleground, queen candidates and the classes ' floats appeared on the field. As a tribute to the past years, the former queens were there and pre- sented the candidates with gifts . Then the new 1969-70 homecoming queen was announced. Wheatfield ' s last homecom- ing queen was Judy Duggleby escorted by Doug Stonebraker .

graduation Two of the most important events to a Senior are the Prom and Commence- ment. The 1970 Junior-Senior Prom was held in Halleck Center on Saturday, May 2nd. The couples danced from 9 to 12. Fol- lowing the Prom was the Post-Prom, the show at the Palace Theater in Rens- selaer and breakfast at Rafferty ' s also in Rensselaer. It was an evening that will be remembered for a long time. The Class of 1970 feels that this year ' s Commencement is the most important in the history of Wheatfield High School. Not only because this is their last year, but also because it will be the last in the history of WHS. Many have been heard to mutter, I can’t wait till graduation. But now that the time is here, it’s changed to I hate to leave WHS.
