.  ARCUS of i960 We, the Seniors of i960, may well be called the first Space Age Class. We shall enter and explore the vast new world of space, uncovered by recent scienti- fic and technological advances. Using the space theme to symbolize the future not only of ourselves but of our parents, teachers, and schoolmates, we shall take out last look at the past as we seek our respective orbits about suns unknown. DEDICATION We are dedicating the 1960 Arcus in memory of the beloved Curt Martin, a young man whom we will never forget as a distinguished contributor to the ethics and honor so deeply embedded in the halls and classrooms of Wheatfield High. Our decision was made as a glowing tribute to his name and character. A. W. P. 1 J W . CLASS HISTORY OF 1960 SENIORS In 1956 we entered Wheatfield High School, as Freshmen, with 73 students. With the aid of our sponsor, Miss Huff, we elected our class officers as follows: President, Melvin Savich; Vice- President, Shanon Cavinder; Secretary, Donna Risner; Treasurer, Homer Howard: Senators, Patsy Finney and Terry Lawyer. During our Sophomore year, with the guidance of Mr. Wells, our sponsor, we elected the fol- lowing as officers to lead us through the year: President, Melvin Savich; Vice-President, Donna Risner; Secretary, Myrtle Hale; Treasurer, Patsy Finney; Senators, Elinor Foster and Don Camp- bell. We chose our class sweaters. The colors were Beige and Brown. Our Junior year was quite exciting. Our officers were: David Lazzell, President; Patsy Finney, Secretary; Connie Myers, Treasurer. Our Representatives in the Student Council were Amel Whitaker and Elinor Foster. We received our class rings, which, were ordered in our Junior year, during the first week of school. Under the direction of Miss Steine we gave our play entitled Great Caesar ' s Ghost. The Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet was held at the Sportman ' s Res- taurant in Monticello. A movie was shown and breakfast was served by the Junior mothers after the dance. We entered our last year of high school with 47 students remaining in the class. With Miss Brown’s guidance and assistance we elected the following students to guide us through the last year; Presi- dent, Amel Whitaker; Vice-President, Don Campbell: Secretary, Patsy Finney; Treasurer, Elinor Foster; Senators, Jack Wiggs and Gerald Fulayter. We gave the Senior Class Play under the di- rection of Mr. Boiler. It was entitled You’H Die Laughing. We were all very busy on Miss Brown ' s committees in anticipation of Baccalureate and Commencement. We will always carry with us the memories of the many good times we had while at Wheatfield High School. We would like to acknowledge our appreciation for the guidance and assistance that was thought- fully and unselfishly rendered by the faculty while we were in school the four years.
