J. ALLEN GENE WIREMAN Al CLASS HISTORY We entered Wheatfield High School the same as all freshmen enter. We were all a little scared and almost excited. We had no idea of what the future would bring. Our class consisted of 56 mem- bers. With the help of our sponsor, Mr. McCollugh, we chose the following class officers: President, Gary Green; Vice-President, Robert Mathis; Secretary, Geraldine Allen; Treasurer, Wanda Risner; Senators, Margaret Schultz and John Terpstra. We came back for our sophomore year a little more sure of ourselves. Under the supervision of Mr. Gard, we chose our class officers as follows: President, Gary Green; Vice-President, Glen Fri- berg; Secretary and Treasurer, Jean Fulaytar; Senators, Louise Stalbaum and Beverly Savich. Janet Dobson was chosen as Carnival Queen from our class. Janet placed second. We decided on the color of our class sweaters as Blue and Gold. Our junior year was the most exciting of all. We ordered our rings and anxiously waited until they arrived. There was the excitement of planning our prom. Our theme was Moonlight and Roses. Our officers for that year were: President, Louise Stalbaum; Vice-President, Beverly Sav- ich; Secretary and Treasurer, Kenneth Hershman; Senators, Gary Green and Janet Dobson. Another big event in our junior year was putting on our play. We decided on two one-act plays. Miss Figert directed one and Mr. Figert directed the other. We began our senior year with a feeling of anxiety. Only 32 of us returned. Later on in the year we had two new students. They were Lynda Ransom and Sandra Allen. Under the direction of Miss Brown, we chose our class officers: President, Bill Sampson; Vice-President, Margaret Schultz; Sec- retary, Pat Giemza; Treasurer, Kenneth Hershman; Senators, Louise Stalbaum and Gary Green. We presented our play under the direction of Miss Figert. The name of it w as Lucky Penny. Miss Brown had all of us on different kinds of committees to prepare for our coming commence- ment. Finally the big day arrived - our commencement day. As we look back on our days at Wheat- field High School, we realize that we will never forget the wonderful times we had. CLASS PROPHECY The year is 1968 and the 10th annual reunion of the class of ' 58 is about to begin. Because so many of the class have become so prominent, the event is being televised. Unable to attend, Harriett Kossakowski is viewing the event from her hospital room where she is recovering from food poisoning. She is a Home Ec. teacher at Wheatfield now and her freshman class in food preparation is responsible for her being here. With her are Alberta Leach, now Mrs. Howard McDaniel and Carol Hoffman, who is Mrs. Jim Dexter. Carol has just had her fifth child and Alberta ' s third is due any time now. Gee, Alberta is saying, I can hardly wait to see our classmates again. Shh, the program’s about to start, says Carol. And now ladies and gentlemen, here is Secretary of Agriculture, Ken Hetrick to do the honors. ” Before we begin I ' d like to introduce Bill Sampson, who as you know is the star of the rising rock and roll combo, ' Swingin’ Sampson and his Solid Seven. ' Bill and his band will entertain during the evening featuring that ' real gone cat ' Art Bierma. First on our list is Louise Stalbaum, head of Experimental Cookery at Betty Crocker. Louise, what can you tell us about those three gentlemen seated at the corner table? ' ' Oh, you must mean Milton DeVries, Glen Dykstra, and Vern Tillema. Always first to try anything with their cars, these boys have started the first drag strip on the Moon, and from what I hear, fhose Moonmen are really crazy about it. Joan Myers and Marge Schultz, those famous speed queens, are their star attractions. Sitting next to them are Pat Giemza and John Osborn. Both comedians in school,- they ' ve formed a comedy team called ' Pat and Jack, ' and are now seen on T. V. Edna Hale, now Mrs. David Cavinder, lives on the Cavinder Estate in an 18 room mansion with their four children. Sitting with her are Beverly Savich and Gary Green. Gary is assistant football coach at Purdue, and he and Bev are celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary tonight. Before we go any farther, I’d like to mention that the girls ' gowns are all original designs by that famous designer, Lynda Ransom. Cecil DeMoss is covering the reunion for the United Press. His biggest story came last week when Kenny Hershman, Space Explorer, discovered life on the planet Venus. Here at a ringside table is John Terpstra, owner of the world ' s largest Mercury manu- facturing plant. He brought along his three private secretaries, Mary Salyer, Joyce Hilton, and Jean Fulaytar. At the table to the right of the stage is the former Dorcas Neely. She and her husband run a small hospital in the jungles of Africa. Sandra Allen is head nurse, but she was unable to attend tonight as she has contracted a bad case of jungle fever. The tall gent at the back table is Allen Wireman. He ' s star center on the Minneapolis Lakers. With him are his manager, Don Wright, and Don Jefferson, who is president of the Kersey Railroad. Coming up on stage now are Wanda Risner and Maxine Dobson. Wanda runs a big pub- lishing house in New York, and she ' s made Maxine ' s books of poetry famous the world over. Wanda seems to have something to say. ' I just wanted to make an announcement. Alberta has just had her baby and it ' s a boy. Congratulations, Alberta! ’ Well, ladies and gentlemen, this concludes our broadcast, hope to see you all here next year.
