llf Xxx 1 X 1 l Q' 4 L ,Q Glass History ln the fall of 1949, the largest Freshman Class thus far descended upon the solemnhalls of wheat Ridge High. To lead us in this new adventure, we elected Bob Mason, John Tanner, and Al Drumright for our first semester leaders. The second semester we chose Al Drumright, John Tanner and Alyce Witt to guide us on. This first year saw us team- ing with the Sophomores to give a fine talent show and All School Party. On Blue and Gold Day, we turned out a pretty good athletic record that encouraged us and gave us inspiration for next year's competition. Muriel Bird and John Tan- ner were our attendants at the Blue and Gold Ball. Our Freshman year gave us a good start and our Sophomore year saw us improving more and more. i Our first se- mester class officers were Al Drumright, Muriel Bird and John Tanner. Under this capable trio, our class presented the highly successful assembly entitled, Calendar Revue of 1950. Again the Sophomores teamed up with the Freshmen , and after a lot of hard work, one of the best All School Parties was held. The second semester saw Kathleen Rufien, Tom Laws, and Rodney Lee taking over. with these three guiding us, we gave the Seniors a scare, and astonished everyone by taking second place in Blue and Gold Day.Our King and Queen Attendants were Muriel Bird and Bob Sprinkle. After three months vacation, we came back to school as Juniors, full of enthusiasm.John Tanner, Tom Laws and Al Drumright were selected as our class officers the first semester. When the Juniors and Seniors put their heads to - gether, they came up with one of the most unusual and enjoyable All School Parties yetg they used a jungle theme. Our play, The Little Dog Laughed, was not about a dog at all, but about a college girl who thought she knew all about psychology, and she practiced on everyone. Few of the many that saw it will ever forget the famous, or should I say infamous, Ink Blot Test. Bill Keller, Shirley Downen, and Vivian Knapp became our class officers for the second semester. We again let our colors fly high on Blue and Gold Day by coming in second again. Our attendants for the King and Queen were Jo- anne Swanson and Roger Holmdahl. To top our year off, we gave the Seniors a lovely Junior-Senior Prom at the Albany Hotel on May 17, 1952. Getting off to a fine start in our Senior year, we elected Ronnie Baumert, President, Don Gipe, Vice- President, and Bob Stafford, Secretary of the class for the first semester. Vivian Knapp and Muriel Bird were elected by the school to be our first and second term Student Body Presidents, and Rodney Lee was given the job of Secretary. With the help of the Juniors, we gave a very fine All School Party, using the Orient as our theme. Farmer's Frolic time came around, and the Seniors were seen bustling about, fixing their concession stands and S0liCiIiflg. Our goal WHS SCI al S1500.with part of the money we raised, we bought a new basketball scoreboard. The second semester, we chose Kathleen Rufien as our President, Bob Stafford as our Vice-President, and Jack Krebs as our Secretary. , The Student Body put their confidence in Don Gipe and Kay Trevithick for their third and fourth term presidents . The SeniorPlay was entitled, Trail of the Lonesome Pine. It was a comic-melodrama about the backwoods of Tennessee. In true Tennessee mountain tradition there is a family fued. As the year came to an end the Seniors looked forward to Blue and Gold Day, and Graduation. We will always remember these last four years here at Wheat Ridge High, and all of the happy moments and exciting events that took place.
