While in the proc- ess of learning their way around they elected Janet Pearce President, and Howard Sauer and Paula Zimmerman to serve under her. They gave a highly entertaining assembly The Liv- ing Newspaper and joined with the Sopho- mores in presenting an All School Party. They began their Sophomore year by elec- ting Howard Sauer, Michey 0'Connell and Dave Turner to class offices and presented their en- joyable assembly The History of Dance. They presented another All School Party this time in co-operation with the Freshmen. At the end of the first term, they elected Charlie Rufien, Pat Dennis, and Mickey O'Connell to lead their efforts. The year was high-lighted with their Richard Bates Pat Dennis Frgnk victory of Blue and Cold Day. The first ever won by a Sophomore Class. They returned to school their Junior Year to elect Pat Dennis-President, Dave Turner- Vice-president, and Howard Sauer-Secretary. At the beginning of the second semester they elected Big Dave Turner as Presid nt, Pat Dennis as Vice-President, and Frank lxfarcisian as Secretary. They presented S'Hollywood, USA as their assembly and displayed much talent in their efforts. As their Junior Class Play they selected Never Say Dye, a hilarious story of life in a Beauty Shop. They presented an All-School Party with the Seniors. As the year drew to a close they had made plans for a Junior-Senior Prom to be held at Welsltire Country Club and prepared to make their Senior year the most eventful of their short career. arcisian Howard Sauer David Turner A ,X lXX , W !'..N XXJXXX , . Tlte members entered into alfairs with a zeal which made the upper classes sit up and take notice. Harvey Bacon was elected to lead the class and with the able assistance of Elaine Ensor and Arlyss Lancaster the first semester was a real success. The Freshman Assembly Cease the Melody, was one of the best ever presented in Wheat Ridge. To start the second semester, Kent Kinniburgh was elected president and throughout the whole second semester the class of '52 continued its winning ways. Next year they came back with even more enthusi- asm. Caroline Bird led the class for the year assisted by Arlyss Lancaster, Harvey Bacon, and Gary Jensen. The class presented an old-time favorites assembly which included a minstrel show. The Freshman-Sophm more All-School Party was one that will be long re- membered. The Sophomore class is half way through its high school career and is looking forward to the next two years, determined to make them the best ever. On September 30 the league play began. We entertained Arvada at the first night game to be held on our new field. The mighty Farm- ers could not be stopped and triumphed over the Redskins 33-6. Our next tilt was with Lakewood at Lake- wood on October 7. After a thrilling and hard fought game, Wheat Ridge marked up another victory. The score was 7-6. We collided with Vlfestminster at home on October 14- and remained in the ranks of the unbeaten when we handed them their first defeat from the Farmers since the Warriors entered the league. The score was 25-2 in our favor. At Aurora on October 21 we trimmed the Trojans. They led at the half 7-6, but the Farm- ers came back in the second half determined to win. The final score was 21-13. Team Captain ' Dan McLaughlin After the great disappointment of having a hard run touchdown called back, the Farmer Gridsters tied a hard fought game with Little- ton 6-6. This game was played on the Farmers home field October 28. On November 12 we went to Golden for the championship game. After a bad first half we couldn't seem to find the combination it would take to win or tie up the game. The Demons won 12-6.
