The first touchdown came in the third quarter when Clifton inter- cepted a pass on his own 40 yard line, and ran sixty yards. He was aided by some excellent blocking by his team-mates. ANACORTES-September 30. On an off tackle play Captain Jones scored, and Goodman bucked over the try-for-point. Jones scored the second touchdown by a 35 yard run. MT. VERNON-October 7. Captain Jones returned an in- tercepted pass 50 yards to the one yard line where Goodman scored on a line plunge. VVENATCHEE-October 21. In the second quarter Crane scored on a 23 yard run, Captain Jones passing to Todd for the extra point. In the fourth quarter Jones passed to Tisdel for a touchdown, and later made two long runs, net- ting nearly 70 yards altogether, the last one taking l1i1n across the goal line. FAIRHAVEN-November 11. The Redskins worked perfectly from the start, and for the first touchdown Captain Jones flipped a pass to Tisdel. In the fourth quar- ter, aroused by a Fairhaven touch- down, tl1 c Redskins marched straight down the field from the kick-off, Clifton making the score. BREMERTON-November 19. The Redskins went to Bremerton and put on the Iron Man stunt, using only one substitution in de- feating a heavy Bremerton, team. EVERETT-November 30. After a battle on even terms the first half, Everett's superior weight began to tell and lthey marched right down the field to a touchdown. After that it was a question of to how low a score the Redskins could hold the Seagulls. During the yearls absence Miss Clark obtained her Master's Degree at the Teachers' College in New York City. October 25aThe Seniors carried otl' the laurels in the first major sport, speedball, when they easily defeated the Juniors, 11 to 0. November 28-The Sophomores, displaying the usual underclass spirit, took a close victory from tl1e Senior squad, 31 to 39 and won the interclass volley hall championship. March 29fThe Senior class took top notch honors in the basketball tournament when they rallied through the season undefeated. April Sl4The managers began to line up the schedules for baseball, tennis, and horseshoe. The baseball season all'orded enjoyment for many athletes although the printing of the Kulshan found the season unfinished. Thus, we completed a very successful year of major sports. The lninor events which placed dates on the calendar were: January 9-eSwin1ming team chosen. This is one of the most excit- ing sports of the season and was managed hy Frances Truax. VVith the expert guidance of Mrs. Jessie Carver, many girls gained for themselves the ranks of beginners, swimmers, and the junior and senior life saving badges. May 7-'fThe second round ol' the tennis tourney was completed. Maxine VVilcox, manager, arranged for the group of 48 entrants to play a ladder tournament. The contests were made more enjoyable this year by the new nets and repaired courts. The next sport was horseshoes which was taken care of by Gennett liarraford. Fifty girls took part! in the ladder tournament. The pits were located on the girls, athletic field. May 25fThe last hike of the season took the group to the South Side. Lake VVhatcom, King Mountain, and Cornwall Park were some familiar haunts of the trampers. Marie Just, and Juanita Sutton were hike leaders, the first and second semesters, respectively. By entering into this program of athletics, many girls earned the right to be initiated into the Girls, Vt , Club during the year.
