H THE EAGER MISS BEAVER Mrs Gazelle Upshaw, snobbish widow, moved with her son Harlan and daughter Doreen, into an old mansion to be near the rich widower Beasley Scudder and the aristocratic Ver- bena VanWyck and her brother Dicky. Gazelle plans to capture Beasley and marry Doreen off to young Van Wyck. She invites Bernice lBunnyJ Beaver, a distant young cousin, to come live with them. Bunny, reared on a Kansas farm, has inherited a small fortune and Gazelle orders Harlan to marry her. Harlan declared he'd rather die than marry that Kansas Jay-hawker from the sticks.
