WARRIORS OF 52 SENIOR HI LITES After eleven vears of wad1ng through books and papers on Readlng Wr1t1ng and Geometry comes the blggest most exc1t1ng 180 days IH any students school career We began our Sen1or year of 1951 1952 wlth an energetxc advert1s1ng campalgn for our yearbook A few weeks later we sold magazme subscrlptlons to our nelghbors and fr1ends to earn a few penmes for our cash box On Apr1l 22 and 23 rlght 1n the m1ddle of speech contests mus1c contests and base ball games We produced our Semor Class Play That G1rl Patsy Under MISS Rose mary Carr our d1rector we put nn several hours of hard work and after a short two weeks of rehearsals the three acts of our dramatlc product1on were together W counted It a success espec1ally from the standpomt of attendance and returns On Aprll 29 we together w1th the h1gh school faculty the1r husbands and w1ves were guests of the Jumors at the annual Jun1or Sen1or Banquet held 1n the Metho dxst Church In keep1ng Wlth the theme Anchors Awelgh the d1n1ng room of the blue The walls representmg the sea and waves were covered w1th crepe paper 1n dlfferent shades of blue The ce1l1ng rep resent1ng the sky was covered w1th blue paper decorated w1th sllver stars Br1ghtly colored flags were hung between the p1l lars and the center pleCQS were l1ghted mlmature llght houses A Shlp a full SIX teen foot repl1ca created by the Junlox boys steamed lazxly across the hor zon Each lady recelved a corsafve of car nat1ons and each gentleman a carnat on boutonmere The Jun1ors and Senlors left the Ean quet to reassemble w1th the1r guests 1n the h1gh school gym and dance to the musxc of the Sweet Seven The dancmg was enjoyed by all and we hope 1t w1ll become a trad1t1onal part of the Jumor Sen1or Banquet and Receptlon At the pleasant fthat IS 1f xou h uc cat eyes and are not used to much sleepl hour of three oclock ln the mormng on May 8th we embarked on a three day motor tr1p to Chxcago Our flrst blg thrlll was fmdmg our rooms 1n the huge Conrad Hllton Hotel We lost ourselves ln the ar1t1 qu1t1es of the Museum of Natural Hlstory marveled at the unbel1evable creatxons of the Sclence and Industry Bulldlng laughed at or w1th the creatures 1n Brookf1eld Zoo roamed through the Dream Boat alsles of Marshall F1eld s were transported to other worlds IH Ch1na Town and Maxwell Street and learned from experlence why Ch1cago IS called The WlndV Clty On May 11 at 8 p m our Baccalaureate Servlces were held 1n the Chr1st1an Church Mrs Ruth Lash Neumann played the Pro cess1onal and Recess1onal and the G1rls Glee Club sang Listen to the Lambs The sermon was gnen by the Rev Ronald E Jenmngs At last Commencement even1ng wa upon us and some of our hopes and fears of the future were reallzed Thls was the even1ng toward wh1ch we had been po1nt mg for twelxe long x ears but as we march ed down the alsle of chalrs ln our sparkllng blue and wh1te gowns we were uncertavn whether we were qu1te as happy as we once thought we would be The Commence ment Address was glven bv Dr John F Haefner of the State Un1xers1ty of Iowa HIS top1c was Ass1gnment for Tomorrow The mus1c department prov1ded all 'he mus1c for the program The Clar1net Quar tet played Star Dust the Brass Sextet The Surrev W1th the Frmge On Top and the Boys Quartet sang Promls Lan The members of the senxor cla s haxe done the1r level best to make th1s annual a success We hope our readers galn as much pleasure from readmg lt as we hate from publlshlng lt We rema n slncerels xours The Annual Staff Anne Draegert Edltor Karen Swanson Asst Edltor Mar lene Kltzman Buslness Manager B111 Fa OTIIZ Asst Buslness Manager Ruth Nanke De lgner and JoAnn Hall Asst Deslgner 9 . . . . , . . 1 . . . 7 V 1 , , . . . . . . , 9 .
