COLORADO OUR CLASS The presrdent of our class rs a lady of Wharton of ancrent and honorable descent a very pretty brunette her name rs Dorothy lngram All who know our town are well acquarnted wrth the parts and merrts of Dorothy She rs a lady that rs very srngular rn her behavror but her srngularrtres proceed from her good sense and are contradrctrons to the manner of the school only as she thrnks the teachers are rn the wrong However thrs humor creates her no enemres for she does nothrng of sourness or obstrnacy and her berng unconhned to modes and forms makes her but the readrer and more capable to please and oblrge all who know her She rs now rn ler Sophomore year at Hrgh School cheerful gay and hearty a great lover of nature lzut there rs such a mrrthful cast rn her l:ehavror that she rs rather beloved than esteemed Her parents are wealthy all the young men profess to love her and the young women are glad of her company When she comes to school she talks wrth everyone untrl the bell rrngs I must not omrt that Dorothy rs a member of our Latrn class and that three davs ago she garned unrversal applause by translatrng a passage ln Cac ar The person next rn esteem and authorrty rn our socrety rs Prnkney Rowe a boy of great probrty wrt and understandrng No one ever took hrm for a fool but none except hrs rntrmate frrends know what lrttle sense he has Thrs turn makes hrm both humorous and agreeable As few of hrs thoughts are taken from lrterature most of them are unfrt for eonversatron Hrs taste for books rs not good srnce he reads nothrng but novels H rs an excellent crrtre but the trme of work rs hrs trme of play exactly at 5 o clock he passes through the post oflice crosses the court house square and takes a turn at the cream parlor untrl the show begrns he has hrs shoes polrshed and hrs harr shampooed every trme he goes up town In order that we may keep up wrth the nexss we have wrth us Elmrra Carson who rs appornted to frnd out all the latest outsrde readrngs rn hrstory school gossrp drvorces weddrngs love affarrs accrdents murders and deaths Every mornrng when the school bell rrngs Elmira rs the flrst one on the steps and from thence proceeds to grve out the news of the day The person of next consrderatron rs Manfred Heyne a boy of great emrnence rn the crty of Glen Flora a person of untrrrng mrrth He rs acquarnted wrth algebra and all rts rules He has made hrs grades hrmself and says everyone may do the same rf they try hard enough The puprl who has been estrmated as the wrttrest boy rn school rs also one of us although he rs a member of the Erghth Grade Englrsh class He has chosen to come to school rather to obey the rnstructrons of an humorous father than rn pursurt of hrs own rnclrnatrons He was placed here to study readrng wrrtrng arrthmetrc and rs the most learned rn all our class rn these subjects It rs sard he keeps hrmself a bachelor by reason that he was crossed rn love by a beautrful perverse grrl of the next town to hrm Before thrs drsapporntment Wrllre ay was what you would call a fine gentleman had often supped wrth Mr Hodges and Mr Poston won the popularrty contest for Mary Lee Wrlson and kreked Paul down starrs for callrng hrm a youngster Berng rll used by the above mentroned grrl he was for a year and a half very serrous but hrs temper berng naturally Jovral soon got over rt and only a few days ago garned unrversal ap plause by danerng the Hula Hula dance for the Senror Class In order that our class may not seem wrthout a lover we have among us the gallant George Rerd of Glen Flora a boy who lrves rn the country but strll knows how to make eyes at the grrls Hrs person rs well turned of a good herght He rs very ready mth that sort of drscourse mth whrch men usually entertarn women He has all of hr lrfe dressed well and rt rs sard he never goes wrth more than srx grrls at a trme for the reason that no more can get rn hrs car He can smrle when a grrl speaks to hrm and laughs easrly He knows the hrstory of each puprl and can er en tell why Nannre talks so much X i , , , . , Y , . . . 1 . , s . , . v , .
