Nfe v book WEYMOUTH NORTH rmniT fTTTT Administration And Staff WILLIAM T. KEARNS Prin ipal Graduation Day marks the end of one of your life ' s objectives and the beginning of your future career. You and your parents may indeed be proud of your achievement. However your graduation from high school is just the beginning of your fu- ture. The opportunities for a rich full life are before you, but your decisions and actions will determine your success or failure. Take advantage of all that is offered to you, try to live according to high ideals, consider the feelings of others, give according to your ability and so live a richer and more rewarding life. W. T. SWANSON GEORGE SWART Structural Design Head of Mathematics Construction Technolog Weymouth North ' s football team faced a severe challenge this year. The new school was left with a schedule of nine games with class A teams, six of which were rated in the top ten in the state. From the beginning the Maroons gave their supporters all they could ask for. After four hard losses, the Maroons put it all together and came out winners defeating Waltham 16-6. No senior will forget the battle, between Quincy and North. An undefeated team, looking for the championship, was lucky to come away with a 14-13 win. In the closing minutes of the game the Maroons had rallied to score a touchdown. Although they could have easily kicked the extra point for a tie, Weymouth North tried for victory and failed. They did not, however, fail in the eyes of their fans. These are the reasons why the pride of North continues. Marie E. Abbott Robert Alabiso ludith C. Alemian Linda Almeida Paul A. Alosa Susan M. Led by Dave No- ble, )ohn ' Wells, Carol Kelly, and Brian Coyne; this year is no excep- tion. To raise money for scholar- ships, the Council sponsored a Powder Puff football game putting the Student Council and the Cheer- leaders against the Pep Club. For Thanksgiving the Council members donated different items to make up a turkey dinner for a needy family in Weymouth. The Globe Santa once again collected money for less fortu- nate children. The Council is also engaged in the task of writing a new student handbook for North High. Mary R. Cogswell Alice Collins Bruce D. Collins Theresa M. Collins Rocco P. Collura Michael B. Wey- mouth had to develop its own plans and specifications. The course itself covers a new area of vocational train- ing. The two year course was designed to train girls for a vocation in pre-school child care. There is a great need for well trained girls in this area. The course is designed to develop a sense of responsibility and self-confi- dence. With local demands, the girls know that they are preparing for solid employment in an area which offers them great satisfactions and will be valuable in raising their own future families. Linda A. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignor- ant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with oth- ers you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, how- ever humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of me. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But lei this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchant- ment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You arc a child of the universe no less than the trees Slid the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. © 1927 by Max Ehrmann Copyright renewed 1954 by Bertha K.
