THE :ll TIGER I959 Wcwoka High School Wcwoka, Oklahoma Embilfking upon a lifetime of learning, two freshmen apprentices, Wally York and Linda Culp, step up onto the portals of higher education. I To SCh0l2lI'ShlP, the essential and basic material from which citizenship is molded, and to the spirit and longevity of such a quality, we, the members of the N958-50 TIGER staff, dedicate this yearhook. I. x, 'YUWRIQ a 1 l consider an human soul without education like marhle in a quarry, which shows none of its in- herent beauties 'til the skill of the polisher fetches out the colours, makes the surface shine, and dis- covers every ornamental cloud, spot and vein that runs through the body of it. joseph Addison 2 The Tiger . ,, ' ln. Then here, at the Seminole game is Mary Ann Sheets, hold- ing a coffee pot and resting from the moneymaking activities of the junior class to watch an exciting play. After a test of time, an all-school queen, Miss Patsy Stobaugh, is elected by fellow workers to the highest royal position. Confer- ring the crown upon her pretty head is Tiger co-captain, Pete Payne. Adding to the suspense in the days before the Wewoka vs . Ada football game, Judy Peebles and June Gibson erect an encouraging banner in the hallway of the school. A different kind of encouragement is given by Patricia Stephenson to Joyce Muir as they review the throes of talent contests after Joyce had been selected as Wewoka Junior Miss and Pat had i taken runner-up position. Later Joyce went on to win the Oklahoma Junior Miss title. Going-to-College quiz, sponsored by Tulsa University to select another royal personality, discovered the chame pion, Linda West. Others challenged in one of the first major tests put to the apprentices, left to right, Ronald Cook, Carolyn Embach, Tom Ligon, Noel Parsons, and Larry Rowe.' Miss Walker chats with Mrs. Vesta Dennis in Mr. Claiborne's office, maybe about her still broken arm. Mrs. Emily Lollis finds greatest pleasure in working with ceramics, Coach Noel Thomason, left, proclaims to Principal Leon John in Pep assembly the possibilites ol' another victory for the 1958 football team. Later, the two take life easy at the annual W Club hamburger fry. Coach Thomason teaches drivers' education, shown here is the drivers' ed car, '59 model. Miss Houser relaxes for a moment at her desk. Mrs. Irene Culbertson, shown at her usual place, tried, un- successfully, to duck from the camera's eye. Mr. Nash enjoys a moment's chat with Gary Wilson, James Wright, and Dwight Ryals, In such moments as these, Wewoka High School teachers get better-acquainted with each other and discuss school problems. They also form lasting friendships with their students.
