Richard was in the symphonic i or ,: - band: Marla and Noel, the concert Q' . , ,- , ' ' 'YA f ' - . f , . , band' The band, called by Announcer Marshall Huser Pride of Wewoka, performed in their new uniforms at all football games. They rated Superior at the Midwest City Marching Contest, Twirlers, entering individually and as a team, rated Excellent. Concerts included Christmas and spring and a short concert preced- ing the pie supper. The band also attended the l-loldenville Band Festival and had partici- pants in the All-District Band at Ada. As the Tiger goes to press, the musicians are preparing for the district contest and hoping to make the State contest. Furthermore, twelve members have formed a dance band . In 1956-57, band activities included Excellent rating at dis- trict contest with Superior in sight reading: Quperior in the state marching contest at Midwest City, where Joyce Muir was named Twirler of the Dayg second place trophy at O. U. Band Day. They gave Christmas, spring and pie supper concertsg enter- ed members in All-District, All-State Bandsg and attended the instrumental workshop at Ada . Debaters Capture H0 nors Wewoka High School debaters this year grabbed many honors to decorate the halls of W. H.S. Among their accomplishments are: qualifying for state in debate, boys' extemporaneous speaking, boys' radio, standard oratory, interpretation of dramatic literature, interpre- tation of poetry and discussion. The speech department has also entertained various men's and women's social organizations. At upper left we see N.F.L. members Duke Ligon, Carl Mullen, Linda West, and Larry Rowe. Not pictured are Joyce Muir, Roger Perkins, Linda Epton, and Olivia Bland. The Thespian Club this year presented Dino, a play based on juvenile delinquency.
