Although one board member has died and one has ref tired as school board member, the students of Vlee woka High School willnever forget these men's cheer- ful sacrifices and deep understanding. Therefore, with loving appreciation, we, the Tiger staff, dedicate the 1958 Tiger to Mr. Clay Foresee and to the memory of Mr. Ben D. Floyd. The TIg67',S Decfzkfzlion Breaibes the Sclooofs Gratitude How proud we are when we hear some- one speak of the beautiful footballfield that Wewoka High School possesses! Our Alma Mater serves as a bond to hold all the past graduates together in a simple, common way. Because this song has never been used before and because these few words bring back many memories never to be forgotten, we, the Tiger staff have chosen the Alma Mater as the theme for the 1958 Tiger. Solbbomores Largest Class The sophomores number 90 and are a class of diversified interests . They showed their class spirit when they came in a close third in the Yearbook King race. A high percent- age of these lower classmen are band members. The class is particularly proud of David Cook, who served as a page at the 1957 Oklahoma legislature. Sammy Davis and Bob Bland are livewire F .F .A.'ers. Wayne Hunter and Doyle Ivester are among top ranking sophs on both the gridiron and basketball court. 1Below, top rowl Rebecca Butler, Doylene Claybrook, Mark Clemmons, Charles Cole, David Cook, Wayne Critten- don, Helen Crossland, Sharon Crow. 1Below, bottom rowj Sandra Daniels, Sammy Davis, Ianath Duff, Lillian Evans, John lloward, Rochella Needham, Jana Beth Potter, Richard Sealy. Comprising the largest class in highschool, this class of 1960 has started a list of achieve- ments that will make them leaders in WHS activities . These sophomores have made terrific strides in athletics. An unusually large number of players held starting berths in B games in football and some in the A games . Wayne Hunter, Doyle Ivester, and Bill Ligon are among the best football prospects in District 6 A along with Frankie Mitchell, who helped quarterback the B team to a victorious season. Dale Parent, another promising gridster, heads the scholastic record for athletes . Dale is also an accomplished accordionist. George Walker has set track records in both state and district fields . Monette Hoffman, Olivia Bland, Judy Roberts, Dorothy Williams, Patsy Stobaugh and Dav- id Cook have added interscholastic laurels to the ambitious sophomore class . Doug Sharp, '57 Student Council prexy, hailed student council representatives from the class of '60 as energetic and hardworking. Nor are the arts left out of this class. Patsy Stobaugh, for example, is an outstanding clarinetest. Dorothy Williams is a coming debater. Nancy Hawkins is in the girls' trio. Johnny Miller is a budding young artist. fBelow, top row :J Mary Ann Sheets, Judy Smart, Don Smith, Evelyn Springfield, Pasty Stobaugh, Darlene Strange, Bennie Streater, Joe Tipton. fBelow, bottom rowj Josephine Trimble, George Walker, Bonnie Weatherly, Diane Weston, Dorothy Williams, Ieanne Wood, Annetta Wyrick, Don York. However, freshmen boys and girls join equally in doing their part in band, mixed chorus, and speech. Plagued by injuries and illness, the Tigers still played high-spirited football, but were unable to win many games. The '56 squad, losing only to Ada and tied by Midwest City, was one of the highest scoring teams in Wewoka's history, tallying 332 points. During the past two seasons, Wewoka has proved that Negroes and whites can integrate without the trouble that has broken out in other sections of the country. Inte- gjrgation of the football teams of Wewoka and Wewoka uglass High Schools has proved very satisfactory. ,51- x '5 7 - - LoyczL Bmw Ana' 'NWN lg .
