The entire program was conducted by student directors who were Pat Libby Susan Andrew Anne Pask Rosemary Kuster Ruth Behnke and Margaret Couve For the first time our school was host to the lllinols High School Association District Music Contest Approx: mately l 500 students participated in the various solo ensemble and organization events The contest was held on March l and 29 The Concert Band participated in the contest and also presented a formal concert In May THE WETHERSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT BAND gf -i' iiufti 'FX jx .L 44.- 32 DRUM MAJORETTE Good showmanship is the mark of a good marching band. The Wethersfield High School Marching Band performed before several football games. It was the second no hit gome of the year for the Geese as Gordon Van Waes pitched one early in the season against Atkinson. Also in the play-off games John Borota hit a home run against Walnut, Shinkevich got three hits against Galva, and Von Waes, Emil Anthony, and Jerry Frey got two hits against Galva. Van Waes was the winning pitcher against Galva. In the title game, Barry Zonkel pitched against Wyoming for the second time and beat them again. John Borota drove in the tallies to put the Geese ahead to stay. Those with two hits were Anthony, Shinkevich, Zonkel, and Borota. The Wethersfield season record was TO wins and 2 losses.
