PARKS Not so many years ago the Idea of plannmg parks or playgrounds m Wethersfield would have been set aside as absurd The town xtself seemed hke a large park A great change took place when the farms were made mto streets now the town ns nearly all bullt up wrth modern homes Thls of course makes a demand for schools and parks Wnthm about ten years we have bullt three grammar schools and our large I-hgh School Hartford our nelghbor IS noted for nts beautlful parks some of ltS beloved cltnzens haung left thexr estates for thus purpose Many of these are ln the heart of the crty easxly reached by exeryone Wethersfield IS plannnng nts first large park whlch we feel sure wxll be a credit to us We saved our Green or Common as It IS called Both of these speak well for our town Kulhlren H0170 Grade 8 A AN APPEAL FOR A CLASSICAL ROOM We have a beautiful new school which rs m most respects almost Ideal but we have no room wh1ch can be called a classxcal room Many students th1nk of Latm as a dull and tlresome study Can you blame them? It may be nf nt has not the proper surroundings It would seem much more mterestmg and ahve rf we had a room equipped just for Latm In If we could have dxagrams of the glorlous conquests of Caesar pictures of Cncero dehvermg hrs famous oratxons and of the xllustrlous deeds of other famlhar Romans We mlght even have some small Images of these dlstmgulshed men These few detanls would not only tend to make Latm easner but also grve If a tmge of the enyoyment gamed from other subyects We arm to make Latm more deslrable to students so whv not take thls means of doing nt? That IS the reason that we make thus appeal for a room that we can call a classmcal room and one that mll be used for that purpose only Florence Murray 31 COOPERATION ns to get 1ll the members of the group to work together for the benefit of all It IS the same may IH hft you and your best frlend may do some thrng equally vsell but probably together you could both do better Co operatnon begms at home later If contmues at school At home you try to co operate synth the rest of the members of the family and w1th the frnends :round you At school you combme your efforts wlth those of the pupnls and teachers Often nn school durnng a studv perrod or during a rec1t1t:on 1 pupxl has somethmg he rushes to say to hrs nexghbor who sxts across from hum Such a commumtatxon vull dxsturb others co operation therefore ns necessary One must 1lso be attentxve Teachers put specnal work unto the preparation for the dav s program wnth the class Therefore they mll appreclate lt nf every one hstens closely Carry out the teachers mstructnons Even lf you cannot always see the purpose back of the nn structnons respect your teachers enough to do as you are told Co operatlon IS necessary Wnthout lt the world would fall Each person has a wnll of hrs own thus wnll should drrect htm to work smoothly mth others Alam Znmz 31 3 . . . y . y . . . , . , . , . . . . , . .
