Principal ' s Message ■ -• . % Once again it is time to say farewell to a graduating class, in this case the Class of 1988. In many ways this graduation marks the end of an era for the school. The Class of 1988 is the last class of over two hundred members which will graduate in the foreseeable future; its passing makes us a much smaller school, a school which is bound to change in many ways during the next few years. It is our hope that you have enjoyed your years here and that you have taken full advantage, as individuals, of the many opportunities for personal growth and intellectual development. We are happy in the certain knowledge that many of you leave us extraordinarily well prepared for the tasks you are about to undertake. Take with you, then, our congratulations on your success- es here and our best wishes for a successful and rewarding future. Mr. Philip F. Flaherty Assistant Principal ' s Message From your nervous arrival just four short years ago, you quickly became a part of the unique atmosphere and ex- citement at the high school. Your dedication to excellence and committment to excel quickly became evident not only in the classroom but in athletics, theatre, music, student government, and a wide array of activities. I was especially impressed by the leadership that emerged and the manner in which your class officers and student government worked to maintain and improve the quality of life at Westwood High School. Your positive contribu- tions and pursuits enhanced the reputation of our school and community and left an excellent model for future classes. I am grateful for your support and urge you to remain active as alumni. Cherish your memories and preserve your friendships. Age Quod Agis Mr. Charles W. Flahive

Presidents Message v And finally to my friends, the Class of 1988, I want to wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. 1 hope your senior year has been as enjoyable as mine. We have risen above much adversity and will continue to do so on our own. Don ' t forget the friendships you have de- veloped during these past four years. I ' ll now leave you with these words: Never strive for the silver or bronze while the gold is in your reach. ' Good-bye, good-luck, and I ' ll see you in five years! ' ' Jill Gary Valedictorians Message Each person ' s individual efforts and achievements provide a solid foundation for the vitality and prosperity of a society. Therefore, as every organ has its own function in the overall working of a human system, so too must each of us have his own function or duty in the general support, prosperity, and benefit of our society. Because each per- son contributes directly to the overall working of the soci- ety, individual effort is extremely important; thus each person really can make a difference. Such must be our attitude toward problems in our world today; our own individual efforts are what constitute our society and are the only substance from which solutions can be forged. Without personal achievements, a prospering community cannot exist. With these achievements, on the other hand, prospering societies can exist and can work toward ad- vancing the concept that man ' s purpose in life is to create and produce for his and future generations . . . .. t ft -w i •: ,4 Michael Papetti
