President ' s Message At first glance, the Class of 1986 might be thought of as a group of survivors, but those who know the class well would depict us as a band of conquerors. The Class of ' 86 left its mark not only on the school, but also on the community and on the entire state. Set back by the publicity of a supposed drug problem in the school, we, with the much appreciated help of the faculty, led a surge of positive action which re-instilled confidence in the school and left Westwood High School as a good example for many other conscien- tious Massachusetts schools. On the fields of the Tri-Valley League, the Class of ' 86 carried on the Wolverine tradition of league domina- tion in football, girls ' basketball, hockey, and many other sports. In the classroom, twenty National Merit Commended Students and Semi-finalists brought Westwood into scholastic prominence. Most importantly, we, as members, conquered our individual differ- ences which accompanied our respective arrivals as apprehensive freshmen to establish the strong unity and pride of the Class of ' 86. Hopefully, as we scatter across the country for college careers, the distances will not be able to sever the bonds we have created with each other and with the faculty. Best of luck to all of you in reaching your deserved success and happiness. Thanks to Westwood High School for enabling us to accomplish our goals. J. Michael Quinn President ' 86 Valedictorian ' s Message The Class of 1986 will long be remembered. We have distinguished ourselves in areas ranging from academics to athletics to the fine arts. More importantly, we have remained united and have overcome challenges together. We have striven to develop our talents and abilities to the fullest and have never been satisfied with giving less than one-hundred percent - be it on the playing fields or in the classroom. Most of all, the Class of 1986 has exemplified the ideals of diligence, honesty, and kindness toward others. I ' m proud to have been part of a class which never lost sight of its goals, but also never lost its sense of integrity in reaching for those goals. The future will bring many new challenges for all of us. Yet, I am confident that the members of this class will meet those chal- lenges with the same spirit of enthusiasm that they have exhibited during their four years at Westwood High School. May the grace of God be with us all as we go forth to make the world a little better place in which to live. Andrew Ward Valedictorian ' 86
