Yesterday was a shadow, A darkness of doubt, a murky greyness of indecision, the frightened twilight of uncertainty: fear casting giant, eclipsing shadow-shapes on the soul. But today, today is light. A brightness of future, a sudden, growing glow of newness, of hope incandescent. And we dream as our tomorrow dawns. C. M. Jay We do not dislike everything that shines, but w e pre- fer a pensive shadow to a thin transparency. We find beauty not only in the thing itself but in the pattern of shadows, the light and the darkness which that thing produces.
